Our Wind Ensemble was lucky enough to snag an hour with Dr Ron Gerhardstein, Director of Bands at PLU today! He gave us some great feedback on Dr Kevin Day's "Blue Hour Skyline", as we prepare to meet the composer next week! Dr G also gave us some great info on continuing music in college. Thank you!

(Also shout out to our boosters for funding big upgrades to our classroom we**am and microphone, which made the call possible!)

The Kitsap Great Give has been extended to 11:59 PM tonight!

There's still time to support the band students at Sakai Intermediate School, Woodward Middle School and Bainbridge High School. Every gift goes a long way to purchase and repair instruments, provide transportation to competitions and bring special instructors to help the student sharpen their music skills.
Every gift is greatly appreciated. : )

Puget Sounds Jazz Festival Update: Thank you to everyone who supported the Puget Sounds Jazz Festival! The community concert with the Marina Albero Quintet was fabulous! Marina's New Orleans flair and latin soul kept all of us tapping our toes and dancing in our seats. Congratulations to all the student musicians who traveled from all over Western Washington to share their music and learn from Marina and her band members.
Many thanks to all the student, parent volunteers and concert goers who made this a great event. Special thanks to Pastor Mark Garrard of Bainbridge First Baptist Church for displaying our festival banner!

Live Jazz: Friday Night at BHS

Don't miss the Puget Sounds Jazz Festival — two days of world-class jazz right here in our community!

March 6 | 6:30 PM — BHS Jazz9 opens for the renowned Marina Albero Quintet.

March 7 | 9 AM–5 PM — Free public performances and educational clinics featuring high school and middle school jazz bands.

March 7 | 7 PM — Outstanding student ensembles take the stage before Marina Albero Quintet closes the night.

Through master classes with professional performers and educators, students gain skills that elevate jazz programs across Washington. It's an experience you won't want to miss. See you there!

You're Invited!

The Band Boosters invite you and your friends to the 8th Annual Puget Sounds Jazz Festival.

Join us for this two-day event in the Bainbridge High School Theater featuring the internationally recognized pianist Marina Albero and Quintet to celebrate live improvisation between professional artists and student musicians.

Two-day Schedule

March 6, 6:30 PM
BHS Jazz9 opens for the Marina Albero Quintet

March 7
9AM - 5PM During the day, high school and middle school jazz bands participate in educational clinics and preliminary performances that are open to the public.
7PM Concert Begins with outstanding student ensembles, followed by a closing set from the Marina Albero Quintet.

The PSJF offers student musicians with master classes focused on helping improve their skills through direct work with professional performers and educators from across Washington.

BHS Band Director Chris Thomas explains, "It's easier for graduates to start a combo later in life than it is a big band, and great combo players in school make for even better big band players. Put simply, the mission is to improve school jazz programs through focus on the often less-rehearsed components of the big band."

We hope you'll join us for this one-of-a-kind jazz festival.
