Congratulations to former Pack #4496 member Fairbanks Jackson on earning the rank of Eagle Scout this past weekend!

Fairbanks joined our Pack as a Webelos Scout and went on to earn the highest rank in Cub Scouting—the Arrow of Light. He then crossed over into Scouting America Troop 1564, where he continued his Scouting journey and achieved Scouting's highest rank: Eagle Scout.

It is always inspiring to see former Pack members continue their adventures in Scouting and reach this incredible milestone. We are proud to know that Cub Scouts was part of Fairbanks' journey to Eagle.

Fairbanks was pinned during the ceremony alongside his older sister, Lillian Jackson from Troop 1804, who also earned the rank of Eagle Scout. Congratulations to both Fairbanks and Lillian on this outstanding achievement! 🦅🦅

Crossover Ceremony this weekend was a huge success! Our scouts received the rank patches and adventure belt loops they had earned throughout the year, and den leaders recapped all the fun and educational activities they accomplished. Each scout then crossed over the bridge to their new den. The ceremony was followed by a BBQ lunch and potluck. Congrats to all our wonderful scouts, den leaders, and volunteers on their hard work!

Attention Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard Military Families

Beginning June 1, 2026, Chief Seattle Council, in partnership with Scouting America, is enhancing access to Scouting for military-connected youth by waiving the $85 national youth registration fee for qualifying families.

This initiative is applicable solely to youth members and is available for both new members and those renewing their online membership. Funded nationally through philanthropic contributions, this program is open to families with current service in the Active Duty, Reserve, or National Guard. The waiver exclusively covers the national youth registration fee, bringing the cost down to $0 once the necessary verification and discount code processes are completed. Please note that local council fees, unit dues, optional add-ons like Scout Life magazine, and processing fees may still apply.

To obtain the waiver, families should select "Get Military Discount Code" during the online registration process. After completing the verification steps, they will receive a verification code to enter at checkout. Once the code is applied, the national registration fee will be adjusted to $0. Although the $85 fee might initially show up during checkout, it will be removed once the verification code is entered. This waiver is available exclusively for online registrations, accessible at www.beAscout.org.

For further information or assistance with this process, please check with your District Executive, visit the Council website at www.scoutingseattle.org/membership/ call 206.725.5200 or email [email protected].

The Bear Scouts completed their last den meeting adventure for the scouting year called "Bear Habitat," by hiking from Port Blakely to Fort Ward. The Scouts had to navigate the trails using maps and work together to find the right path while learning about the native plants along the trail. 🌿 🌳
In less than two weeks, they will all cross over to the Webelos den and go on to new, exciting adventures together!⚜️

This morning our Cub Scouts placed flags on veteran graves at Port Blakely Cemetery. They participated in the raising of the flag, recited the Pledge of Allegiance and Scout Oath, and learned about the important sacrifices veterans made for our country. In addition to American flags, they also placed several Canadian, British and Purple Heart flags.

This past weekend our scouts enjoyed “A Scout Goes Fishing” event at Battle Point Park! They learned about water safety, fishing poles and bait, as well as fishing regulations, types of fish found in Washington and how to cast a fishing line. Our pack would like to give a special thanks to Chris Madison from the Bainbridge Island Sportsmen's Club, who took the time to teach our scouts about the types of fish in the area, types of bait used, and casting techniques.

The Pinewood Derby this weekend was a great success! Our Scouts raced wooden cars they planned and created themselves, utilizing woodworking skills, expressing themselves through design and experiencing physics in action. The Pinewood Derby is one of those activities where kids don’t realize how much they’re learning because of all the fun they’re having! It is a confidence-building activity that teaches them sportsmanship, teamwork and perseverance, all while gaining exposure to STEM.
