Be one of the first to tour the completed reHOME tiny homes at Morales Farm! These 3 award-wining homes provide affordable housing for local farm workers. Small in size and big on sustainability, they were built using primarily recycled and repurposed materials keeping construction waste out of our landfills.

ReHOME won an award of Merit in research and innovation for the AIA 2022 Honor Awards! Design

The ReHOME project addresses two pressing social and environmental issues: the lack of affordable housing in cities throughout the United States, and the vast amount of waste produced during construction. ReHome envisions planned neighborhoods of recycled homes where homeowners have a sense of community and investment in their future.

The reHOME Project made headlines in the Daily Journal of Commerce:

“The process has been fantastic, it’s been really fun to focus on finding materials and thinking of innovative ways to use them in the project,” Turnbull said. “One of the biggest challenges has been to adapt the recycled materials for a strong structure,” Coates Design added.

“This project has been a great challenge,” Brian Bond, labor superintendent at Clark, shared. “It really is the culmination of the community coming together to make this happen and there has been so much comradely around this effort..."

•10 Pier pads w/post base brackets
•6000 sqft - interior cladding (T&G, Finished Plywood, ship lap, exterior cladding)
•9000 sqft interior and exterior paint. (color needs to be approved by owners, architect, and contractor)
•1000 sqft of roof shingles
•Roof metal flashing
•500 sqft of decking
•Decking screws 2 ½” or 3”
•400 LF 6” pvc drainage pipe
•Melamine shelving
•Interior wood trim (for windows, doors, and base.) 1x2, 1x3, 1x4, 1x6, 5/4x….
•Galvanized gun nails 3”x1.31
•18 g interior gun nails
•15g interior gun nails
•Barn door tracks – 3 to fit 3’ door opening
•120’ Galvanized 4” corner metal trim.
•200’ Galvanized j metal trim for siding.
•100 sqft of TPO roof membrane for the entry decks
•120 lf - 4x4 PT posts
•120 lf – 2x rail cap (can be cedar, pt, or sunwood)
•250 – 3’ 2x2s (can be cedar, pt, or sunwood)
•130 – 1x4 PT for horizontal battens
•PVA Primer Paint
•TPO material (Thermoplastic Polyolefins)
•White interior paint (egg shell finish)

One of the biggest challenges has been to adapt the recycled materials for a strong structure. approach in architecture is to enhance nature by framing nature and it could not be reflected without help.
