This , HACAN is proud to join the Fairfax County Department of Family Services in their critical campaign to protect survivors. Together, we can raise our voices, share vital resources, and ensure that every family can live in peace and security.

Survivors of domestic violence deserve a fear-free life, but when guns are present, they are at increased risk of violence and death.

According to Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions, in 2021, there were at least 115 domestic violence-related homicides in Virginia. 64% were by firearm.

The simple fact is that when a gun is present in a household experiencing abuse, no matter who the gun belongs to, the risk of homicide increases significantly. Survivors deserve safety and protection. The Fairfax County Board of Supervisors has proclaimed June .

Quarterly Convening along the Route 1 Corridor, a great initiative by LAZERA Ministries. It was a wonderful space for networking and collaboration alongside leaders and residents committed to equity and collective impact.

The art of baking came to our Morning Star program! 🥖✨

We recently experienced a wonderful and very special workshop. One of our families took the initiative to share the noble trade of baking with the children, explaining its importance and the effort behind every piece of bread that reaches our tables.

The best part of all was seeing the children transform into little bakers: they got their hands in the dough, shaped their own loaves, and learned about the value of patience, teamwork, and natural ingredients. 👩‍🍳👨‍🍳

It fills us with immense pride to see how our parents empower themselves and take the lead to inspire new generations through these workshops. Thank you for sharing your talent and making our community a living space for learning!

Los invitamos a conectarse por Zoom en familia este jueves 4 de junio a las 7:00 p.m. para participar en el taller:
“Peligros del Fentanilo para Jóvenes” 💊

Este es un programa de prevención dirigido a estudiantes de:
🎒 Secundaria (6.° a 8.° grado)
🏫 Preparatoria (9.° a 12.° grado)

🧠 ¿Qué aprenderán los jóvenes?
A identificar los riesgos: Conocerán los peligros reales del fentanilo y de los productos de nicotina (ci*******os y vapes).

Habilidades para la vida: Desarrollarán herramientas para resistir la presión de grupo.

Decisiones fuertes: Aprenderán a elegir un camino más saludable para ellos y sus amigos.

💡 Nota para padres y educadores: Las lecciones están respaldadas por la Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth (VFHY) y universidades del estado, alineadas con los Estándares de Aprendizaje de Virginia.

🌱 CULMORE CLEAN UP DAY 2026 WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! 🌍✨

Today was an incredible day, and we couldn’t be prouder of our community! We were thrilled to see that the streets were noticeably cleaner than last year, showing that our community is actively stepping up to care for our local environment.

Dozens of families and their children came out eager to clean up the streets of Culmore, proving that when we come together, we can truly make a difference for our planet. The best way to teach environmental care is through action and leading by example! 💪🏽👧🏻👦🏽

A very special thank you to for organizing this fantastic event. We deeply value your partnership and your ongoing commitment to our families! 🤝❤️

Today we celebrated our Salsa Day, an event dedicated to pampering, energizing, and getting the moms from our HACAN parenting program moving! Thanks to our partner, we were able to create a wonderful space filled with connection, laughter, and lots of dancing! 💃🏽✨

We had an amazing choreographer who got everyone up, dancing, and exercising to the rhythm of salsa and bachata. The energy was incredible! There was also plenty of team-building activities, laughs, and prizes to spoil them even more. 🎉
The weather gave us a perfect afternoon to enjoy the outdoors. Seeing our moms smile, dance, and share this time together truly warms our hearts. ❤️
