Introducing our 2026 Summer Intern!
We are excited to announce our intern for the 2026 summer program year, Hailey Dunaway! Hailey has been with us since May assisting with youth programs in the community and in the office. Here is a message from Hailey:
"Hello everyone! My name is Hailey Dunaway and I am so excited to have the opportunity to be your intern for this summer. I just finished my first year of college at the University of Minnesota Crookston, and I double majored in Animal Science Pre-Vet, Equine Business Management, and I minored in Equine Science. While attending college, my love and experience with agriculture and animals only deepened. Getting the opportunity to work with the youth and future of the agriculture industry is something that I look forward to because I want the industry to only continue to grow and prosper. Although I was not personally a member of 4-H growing up, I still have gained a lot of experience partaking in the events with people who were members, from helping in the food stand during the fair, to helping with the horse shows, and even competing in the open horse and dog shows. At home, I currently have three horses, a pony, a lot of chickens, and a cat named Pig. In my free time, I rodeo, go to local barrel races, and spend time outdoors with my animals. I look forward to getting to know all of the families and members as time goes on and please feel free to reach out to me with any questions or concerns as they may arise, I am here to make life easier for everyone!
~Thank you all so much for entrusting me to work with you as your intern this summer!"

Let’s Talk About Inclusion 👫
Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Feeling left out can have a deep impact on a young person’s well‑being. 62% of young people say they often feel left out, and many keep those feelings to themselves, making it hard for others to know when they need support.

You can help create a more welcoming world by choosing to be inclusive. Invite someone to join in, make space for new voices, and look for those who may be standing on the outside. You never know what people are going through, and your kindness might be the moment that changes their day.

Let’s Talk About Loneliness in Young People 👥
Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Loneliness affects young people more than many realize. About 21% of teens report feeling lonely, and many keep those feelings to themselves, making it hard for others to know when they need support.

You can make a difference by choosing to check in. A simple message, a quick call, or a few kind words can remind someone they matter. You never know what someone is going through, and your small act of care might be exactly what they need.

Let’s Talk About Caring for Older Adults 🧓

Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Loneliness is more common among older adults than many people realize. 43% of older adults report feeling lonely, and many experience it quietly without reaching out for support.

You can make a meaningful difference by choosing to show up, even briefly. Even short visits matter more than you think. A quick check‑in, a shared cup of coffee, or a few minutes of conversation can remind someone that they are valued and not alone.

Let’s Talk About Cyberbullying 💻
Because everyone needs someone to talk to.

Cyberbullying is more common than many people realize. Over half of teens who go to school experience cyberbullying, and it is often very hard to tell when someone is being targeted online.

You can make a difference by choosing to be a helper, not a bully. Offer support, reach out when something feels off, and help create online spaces where kindness is the norm. Even small actions can interrupt harmful behavior and show someone they are not alone.
