The hearts of the community are sadden tonight. It even hurts my heart to post this. I just learned that Ms. Barbara Apperwhite just passed away tonight. My deepest and most heart felt condolences go out to the family. May God's blessings be upon all the family as you go through this loss that we have all sustained.
RIP Barbara. We love you but God loves you more.

"This is the day that the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it". Good evening and Happy Sunday to all.
Yesterday, the Alumni Assoc. sponsored it's annual scholarship fund golf tournament. I must say it was a wonderful, fun event and we had great participation. We'd like to thank All of our participants, our sponsors, our food vendor(Ms Katie Peoples), Badin Inn and The Ike Westbrook Community Center for helping our event to be the success that it was.
We also offer our congratulations to ALL of our winners. First off, our scholarship winners. We presented two, $1000.00 scholarships. Ms Chelsea Shannice Cagle, granddaughter of Ms Valerie Legrand Tyson was one of our recipients. She will be attending N.C.A&T in the fall. Charles J. Peoples Baldwin was our other recipient. He is the grandson of Mr. & Mrs. Charles Peoples and will be attending Morehouse College this fall. We wish them both the very best in ALL their future endeavors and it's our hope that these scholarships will help them along their way.
Ok, our golf winners are as follows:
Ladies long drive__Shelia Roseboro..(sorry Daisy, you got competition now)lol.....Men's Long drive...Bernard Johnson from South Carolina.....Close to the hole on #2..Dennis Lathan from SC, on #9, Paul Roseboro and on #11 Paul Roseboro. Third place winners from Salisbury: Ed Holmes, Parnell Corpening, Maurice and Denise Lylerly. Second place; Ernest Peoples, Bernard Smith and Milton Ruffin...First Place; Franklin and Ken Washington, Josh Hough and Jacob Davis.
Congratulations to ALL of our winners and Our many many thanks to ALL OF YOU for your participation

West Badin Alumni Assoc. will be sponsoring a Captain's Choice Golf Tournament on Sat., July 27, 2013 at The Badin Inn & Golf Resort with a 9:00am shotgun start.
Preregistration is highly recommended so that we can get a headcount. On site registration begins at 8 am. Cost: $50.00 per player. Lunch will be served after play is complete.
Please register your team in advance with either Ernest or Calvin Peoples or Bennie and Daisy Washington.
Also anyone who would like to be a Hole Sponsor, please submit check for $100.00 to West Badin Alumni Assoc. Inc. P.O. Box 1470 Badin, NC 28009. Payments must be rec'd by July 10, 2013 in order to have time to get your name on a sponsor's sign.
