Calling all Huron County food pantries!!

The final Thumb Food Security Workshop is in Pigeon on May 21 (with a virtual option as well). These gatherings help participants learn and connect with other pantries AND provide an opportunity for an up to $20,000 grant to support food security in the thumb!

🍏Our next regional food pantry workshop is coming up on May 21. In addition to learning about food hubs, participants can get all the details about a June 18 Grant Pitch Event. Up to $20,000 will be given for projects that address worthy food security needs in St. Clair, Lapeer, Tuscola, Sanilac and Huron counties.

Today was our Scholarship Reception, where we recognized this year’s award recipients alongside all the people who make these scholarships possible. It was a beautiful day to celebrate!

Grandparents Day 🤝 Deposit Day

We were honored to share in the Grandparent's Day festivities at Harbor Beach Community Schools yesterday. HCCF and our financial partner Frankenmuth Credit Union set up a deposit station for students (& their grandparents!) to contribute to their Children's Savings Accounts (CSA). The Storrs Family CSA program supports the college and career goals of all Harbor Beach Pirates.

We loved seeing all the smiles and sharing in this special day!

Our YAC students are excited to announce $8,700 in community grants impacting Huron County youth!

These grants are funded by the Youth Activities Endowment and funding decisions are made by our YAC students. This year's awards cover a wide variety of interest areas from basic needs to the arts and literacy to recreation. Congratulations to the 11 organizations receiving YAC grants in 2026!

Yesterday our Youth Advisory Committee met for our grant meeting! These YAC students had 13 grant applications to review, discuss and, ultimately, decide what to fund with the YAC endowment.

Through this process, our YAC members learn about grant making and local nonprofits AND about conflicts of interest, how to share their opinion in small and large groups, and how to have respectful and constructive dialogue across differing perspectives.

We’re so proud of these students and the care they take when making grant decisions. Look for our 2026 YAC Grant Awards announcement next week!

We do assigned seating at our Scholarship Reception so we can connect students with their scholarship donor if possible. Even if you cannot attend, please submit your RSVP to let us know!

Final Reminder - YAC grant applications are due on Monday!

If your organization is impacting the lives of Huron County youth, this grant cycle is for you. Applications are reviewed and recommended for funding by our Youth Advisory Committee. It is truly youth helping youth!

The application can be accessed on our website. Be sure to submit via email before the April 13 at 4 p.m. deadline.

The HCCF Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) is now accepting grant applications for projects that benefit youth in Huron County. Schools, nonprofits, and community organizations are encouraged to apply for funding to support programs and initiatives that make a positive impact on local young people.
