Labor Day isn’t just the unofficial end of summer. It’s a reminder of what working people can accomplish when they stand together.

The 8-hour day. Weekends. Overtime. Safer workplaces. Pensions. Health benefits. Paid leave. A voice on the job and in politics.

None of these were gifts from employers or politicians. Workers organized, fought and sacrificed for them — and labor unions turned those fights into standards that lifted millions of American families, union and nonunion alike.

So this Labor Day, enjoy the barbecue — but remember who we’re celebrating.

The people who built this country, and the unions that fought to make sure they shared in its prosperity.

Happy Labor Day. 🇺🇸✊
