High Winds on the DZ! No Drop!

Although we scratched our jump as safety is our number one priority, we did get more time exploring some of the 82nd Airborne Division areas during the Battle of Normandy.

We started our day at La Fiere Causeway and are making our way around Amfreville, Cauquigny, Chef du Pont, Picauville and of course Saint-Mere-Eglise.

We also linked up with some of our friends from the Samuel Council 555th PIA"Triple Nickle" as our Malvin L. Brown Chapter of the SER is officially active!

No better way to honor the 82nd Anniversary of the Day of Days!

HAPPY 15TH BIRTHDAY CALEB!
Caleb's dad here. It's 2:45AM here in Normandy, France and Caleb is sound asleep. Exhausted from two very long, but amazing days with seven more days ahead of him. Today is his 15th birthday and hopefully he will see this when he wakes up. I honestly can't think of another place on earth he would rather be for his birthday. It's going to be an amazing day for him so let's all wish him a happy birthday to start things off! Happy Birthday Caleb! Your mother and I love you very much, and we are so very proud of what you have accomplished in your life. We hope all your dreams come true. ❤️

The All Airborne Battalion has gotten off to a busy start so far in Normandy. Our paratroopers have attended three ceremonies thus far, including the annual memorial service for downed RAF Sergeant Pilot Raymond Frederick Charles Dean, who was killed in action when his Spitfire was shot down over Brévands in November of 1941.

We also attended the memorial service honoring: SGT Stanley S. Smith, PFC William C. Walter, PVT Robert L. Herpin and PVT Robert E. Holtzmann, G Company, 3rd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment. These paratroopers were killed in Sainte-Mère-Église reinforcing their positions on June 6, 1944.

Today we also attended a wreath laying with the France Etats-Unis French Riviera Monaco at the American Battle Monuments Commission Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial. What a moving ceremony. Jumping is fun, the Stop Bar is always a great time, but it is rendering honors and attending the commemoration events that is the most important events while we are here.

Some of our paratroopers enlisted a new jumper for our trip to Normandy. Meet Claude the Cow! Claude will join AAB for the great adventure they have striven for many months: commemorating the 82nd Anniversary of D-Day. Thank you to Chick-fil-A Toccoa for allowing Claude to manifest. We will take good care of him!

Let us all take the time today to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our great nation. Although today is the official holiday, for many family and friends Memorial Day is every day.

Say their names. Tell their stories. As long as we continue to do so, their memory and legacy will continue to live on. If you would, please list in the comments who you are remembering and honoring today.

For the fallen, lest we forget.

All Airborne Battalion team members attended the 15th iteration of the Boston Wounded Veteran’s Motorcycle Run this past weekend. What an amazing event put on by the Boston Wounded Vet Run Team, The Rifle and the vision behind it, Andy Biggs. Andy has done so much for the veteran community and this weekend he was awarded honorary AAB wings for his dedicated work to honor all those who serve.

Thank you Andy and all the volunteers who have made this event happen for the last sixteen years. Thank you to the thousands of riders and supporters who have positively impacted the lives of veterans, first responders and their families. Thank you to the AAB members and the 22 Mohawks and X-35 teammates who came out to support such a great cause. Until the next event!

Dennis Boldt, another of our Greatest Generation, has sadly passed away. Dennis served as an anti-aircraft gunner with Patton’s Third Army. Dennis would come ashore on Utah Beach and ultimately fought through five campaigns in the European theater. He was 101 years young. We had the pleasure to spend a little time with Dennis as he observed our jump at La Fière Causeway in June of 2024. Rest in Peace, Dennis.
