Thanks to our Veterans Affairs Director, Sean Lockhead and Vice President of our Malvin Leroy Brown Chapter of the SER of the 555th Parachute Infantry Association, Diana Breen, for representing at the Wild Bill Guarnere Golf Tournament and Dinner.

Thanks to all those who came out to support a great event and help keep the legacy of Bill, his fellow paratroopers and all veterans alive!

25 years ago today, Operation Enduring Freedom began. A campaign a part of the Global War on Terror in a post-9/11 world, the mission would run until December of 2014 before transition to Operation Resolute Support and Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, finally concluding with Operation Allies Refuge. Lest we forget those who served and those who were Killed or Wounded in Action during combat operations in Afghanistan.

We want to congratulate one of our team members on being awarded two sets of honorary wings during Currahee Military Weekend. Keith Hornick, a native of Toccoa, has done a lot to preserve the history and legacy of those who trained here during World War II. Plans were for Keith to attend training after losing more than a hundred pounds and having both knees replaced; however, Doctor’s orders dictated that he would not be able to jump.

Citing all he has done to highlight the history of Toccoa, the Toccoa Men and our Greatest Generation as a whole, he was awarded honorary U.S. and AAB Wings. Mike McCullough, also a Toccoa native, presented his original jump wings to Keith, acknowledging all of his efforts to preserve the legacy and tell the amazing story of those who came before us.

Thank you Keith for all that you have done and continue to do to keep this amazing history alive.

Thank you to all those who attended the Southeast Region of the 555th Parachute Infantry Association National Assembly in Jacksonville this weekend. We are proud to announce that we received our Charter for our All Airborne Battalion Pfc. Malvin Leroy Brown Chapter of the SER. We look forward to continuing to honor the Triple Nickles and follow through with our promises made during Operation Firefly 2024. Thank you to the J.J. Today is 3 October, and although their families and friends mourn their loss everyday, today we remember those 19 Americans who gave their lives in the support of freedom during Operation Gothic Serpent 33 years ago.

Never forget the warriors that came before us. Never forget the tenacity, brotherhood and courage displayed by the members of Task Force Ranger and the 10th Mountain Division. Never out of the fight.

She is also a talented artist who has painted our mockup and other items for Camp Toccoa at Currahee. Soon she will get here knees in the breeze too!

Today is Saint Michael’s Day, the patron saint of paratroopers, law enforcement and those warriors who serve in various capacities.

“St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.”

May he protect us.

On this 82nd anniversary of the conclusion of Operation Market Garden, we reflect and look back on the recent commemorations of the Operation with our friends from and Parachute Group Holland other jump teams.

One can visit a museum or read a history book, but to fully appreciate what our Greatest Generation did you must visit the historical battlefields and truly walk in their footsteps.

Lest we forget those who served and sacrificed during Operation Market Garden.

A jump hosted by Parachute Group Holland into the historic Drop Zone “N” honoring the mighty 82nd Airborne Division during the 82nd Anniversary of Operation Market Garden. This drop zone was used by the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment and Division Headquarters elements with another just Northeast of it, Drop Zone “T” being used by the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment.

If you listen closely you can hear the jumper honor our friend and 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment veteran, Sergeant Gene Metcalfe, who jumped into Drop Zone “T” on September 17th, 1944.
