This Memorial Day, Haven Paws Dog Rescue pauses to honor and remember the brave men and women who have served, sacrificed, and continue serving our country every single day. 🇺🇸
Because of their courage and selflessness, we have the freedom to continue our mission of saving lives and giving abandoned dogs a second chance.

Today, we remember:

Cash has been working hard with our trainer for the past 2 months and he is MORE than ready for his next chapter! 🐾❤️

He has made amazing progress and now needs a foster or forever home to continue thriving outside of training. Unfortunately, our trainer has a family emergency and must return to Virginia this weekend, so we urgently need placement for Cash ASAP.

✨ Hump-Day Spotlight : Meet Berrie ✨

Berrie is approaching 2 years old and has waited far too long for her forever family to find her. 💔

Pulled just before euthanasia from Rowan County, Berrie has worked so hard alongside her foster mama to become the incredible girl she is today. Watching her grow, heal, and learn to trust again has been such a beautiful journey.

The more her personality shines, the more we believe she may be a Lab mixed with Great Dane — from her big paws and long legs to her powerhouse excitement when she gets happy!
But despite her size and goofy energy, Berrie is incredibly gentle, especially with children. 🩷

Her favorite days are what we call “Barn Learning Days” — when groups of children come to the barn to learn about livestock, horses, and of course… DOGS! Berrie always makes sure to give the kids extra love and attention, especially the children with special needs. She seems to understand exactly when someone needs a soft nuzzle or a quiet best friend beside them.

Berrie has come such a long way since leaving the shelter, and now all she needs is a family willing to say “yes” to her forever.

🚨 HPDR NEEDS YOUR HELP 🚨

We want to be transparent with our supporters and community.

HPDR is temporarily closing intake because right now, the rescue is being run almost entirely by one person — with help from our trainer and a family member handling social media behind the scenes. The needs have become overwhelming emotionally, mentally, physically, and financially.

Madison is preparing to welcome baby #2 this July, and with postpartum approaching quickly, the reality is that something has to give before complete burnout happens.

But while intake may be closing temporarily, the dogs currently depending on us still need us every single day.

Vet bills.
Boarding expenses.
Training costs.
Food and supplies.
Emergency medical care.
None of it stops.

Right now, our biggest goal is simple:
Keep our dogs safe. Raise the funds needed to finish strong for the dogs already relying on us. And place each of them into the forever families they deserve. ❤️🐾

This mission cannot continue without support from our community. Donations are needed DAILY to help cover the everyday care our dogs require while we work to get them home.
Everyone wants rescues to step in when there’s an unwanted dog, an emergency, or a difficult situation — but rescues cannot survive without the support to back those saves.

Meet Nova 💙🐾
Nova is a stunning 3-year-old Siberian Husky with the prettiest blue eyes and the sweetest spirit. She needs a medical foster TODAY while she recovers from her vetting and spay procedure.

This is a temporary foster placement to help her heal comfortably — and if you fall in love, foster-to-adopt is absolutely welcome! We just need this beautiful girl safe and cared for during recovery first.

Every time we think we’re catching up, another dog needs help. Another emergency call comes in. Another life depends on whether we can say “yes.” 🐾

We are a small nonprofit rescue trying to do BIG things for dogs who have nowhere else to go—strays, neglect cases, owner surrenders, medical cases, mamas with puppies… the dogs most people overlook ❤️🐶

But rescues cannot run on love alone.

For nearly 2 months, Cash has been with our partnered trainer learning confidence, structure, manners, and all the skills he needs to thrive in a home of his own. Watching his transformation has been incredible.
