Once upon a time, Mudd was just a terrified stray, running the streets, dodging cars, and trying to survive a world that hadn't been very kind to him.

Today? HE'S A COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BOY! 🙌🏻

Meet MUDD, our handsome 8-month-old Yellow Labrador Retriever who has absolutely NO idea how much his life has changed — but boy, is he grateful! 💛

Despite his rough beginning, Mudd doesn't have a mean bone in his body. In fact, we're pretty convinced this boy was put on Earth for one reason…

Not too long ago, Sawyer was sitting inside Horry County Animal Care Center, absolutely terrified. A little boy who wasn't sure who to trust, what love felt like, or if kindness even existed.

But LOOK AT HIM NOW! 🙌🏻💛

With patience, love, and guidance from the wonderful Jessica with K9 Life Coaching and Training Solutions, Sawyer has blossomed into a confident, happy little guy who is finally ready for the greatest chapter of his life — A FAMILY OF HIS OWN! 🏡

🚜 DOZER — BUILT LIKE A BULLDOZER, BUT SWEET AS CAN BE. 🐾❤️

Dozer is 10 months old, a Bloodhound who has already fought through the unimaginable in such a short period of time.

And honestly? Being built like a bulldozer has worked in his favor. 🥹

This big baby recently underwent X-rays, which revealed a straight, minimally displaced distal right radial fracture.

We are still uncertain whether he will heal on his own with proper care and rest or if surgery will ultimately be necessary.

What we do know is that despite the pain he has endured, Dozer remains the absolute sweetest guy in the room. His gentle spirit and loving personality are still shining through everything he has been through.

From the streets ➡️ to the shelter ➡️ LEAVING WITH FREEDOM. 🙌🏻🐾

Now, we need your help to make sure his freedom comes with the medical care he deserves.

💓 Followers, Friends & Supporters 💓

As we have shifted focus to help our local county shelter move dogs, Haven Paws still has obligations and outstanding balances due.
I can not help or say yes when there is absolutely zero funds to do so. 😞

Our local shelter is home to over 300 dogs waiting for someone to choose them, In hopes they find them before its too late. 💔

We desperately need incoming donations. Until past balances are paid we simply cannot :

• say yes to a dog needing medical attention.
• say yes to a dog shut down needing training.
• say yes to a dog needing simple vetting.
• say yes to help a dog stay within its family vs the shelter or streets.

🐾 MEET THE DIRECTOR BEHIND HAVEN PAWS 🐾

I think it’s time you meet the person behind the name Haven Paws Dog Rescue.

My name is Madison. I’m 28 years old, and I’ve been passionate about animals for as long as I can remember. At just 17, I started bringing animals home, caring for them, treating them, and finding them loving forever families.

Over the years, I’ve learned a LOT about rescue — the good, the bad, the heartbreaking, and everything in between.

I’ve also learned that not everyone will agree with me.

I’ve been discredited for accomplishments I’ve worked incredibly hard for. I’ve been talked about and judged based on information that simply wasn’t true. I’ve had people question my decisions, my intentions, and my ability because of my age.

And you know what?

I’m okay with that.

Because at the end of the day, I know who I am.
I know what I’ve accomplished.

And most importantly, I know why I do this.
My dogs have ALWAYS come before opinions, numbers, “intakes,” popularity, or proving a point.

Every dog under Haven Paws is an individual life — not a statistic.

I have always prioritized safety, proper medical care, appropriate vetting, and doing what I believe is truly in that dog's best interest. Even when it means taking the harder route.
That is also why Haven Paws implemented Foster First, Forever Next.

A dog may have a future forever family lined up, but that does not mean their vetting gets skipped or rushed. Their medical care comes first. We ensure they are properly vetted before ownership is finalized.

Because rescue isn't about moving dogs as quickly as possible.

It is about doing it responsibly.

Lately, life has been a little crazy. ❤️
I welcomed my sweet baby boy earthside on July 4th, while also chasing around my wildflower of a 2.5-year-old daughter and caring for the six animals of my own.

Life has changed.

My availability has changed.

But my heart for these dogs has not.

I will ALWAYS be a voice for the dogs who need one.

I will always help where I can, when I can. And I will ALWAYS do what I personally believe is in the best interest of the dogs in my care — even when another person, organization, or rescuer may not agree with me.

I may be young.

But I am not inexperienced when it comes to loving, advocating for, and fighting for animals.

And something I wish more people understood is this:
Rescue is not a competition.
It shouldn't be about who is “better.”
Who saves more.
Who has more connections.
Who has more followers.
Who takes in more animals.
It should be about the animals in our community who need SAVING. 🐾

There are far too many dogs who need help for rescues to spend their time tearing one another down — especially over false information, personal disagreements, or differences in opinion.

We need to work together.

Because when adults can't put their differences aside, it isn't the adults who suffer.

The animals do.

And that is something I simply cannot get behind.

I know what I am capable of.
I know my heart.
I know my intentions.
And I know exactly why I started Haven Paws.

It's time for our rescue community to do better. To communicate better. To support one another when we can. And most importantly, to put the animals above our personal problems, egos, and opinions.

🐾🌿 RESCUE TRANSFER SECURED🐾🌿

** Donations needed & appreciated to help get him vetted! ** 🤍

🚨 URGENT: SIG NEEDS A FOSTER + VET CARE 🐾

This poor boy was found early yesterday morning covered in muck, ticks, and fleas. 💔

The finder has been calling him Sig, and unfortunately, they have multiple dogs of their own and another dog in the home simply isn't feasible. They cannot keep him — so we need a foster ASAP.

Sig is emaciated, covered in parasites, and we are concerned about the number of ticks on him. He is also not neutered and is most likely not current on his vaccinations.

👉 He desperately needs to see a veterinarian.
We need help getting him examined, tested, treated for parasites, properly nourished, vaccinated, and eventually neutered.

💔 SIG IS SCARED.
So far, Sig is learning that people can be trusted.

He is VERY vocal — because, well… he's a hound. 😂❤️
He may growl at you until he knows you're safe. We strongly believe this behavior is coming from fear and possibly past mistreatment, not aggression.

He has NOT attempted to bite. He has NOT shown his teeth.

He's simply scared and trying to figure out who is safe.
And if you've ever loved a hound, you know they have a LOT to say. 😂 They talk back, they grumble, they make their opinions known, and they can be incredibly goofy, loyal, loving dogs when they're given patience and understanding.
Sig needs someone who understands hounds. Someone willing to give him time to decompress, learn that hands can be kind, and discover what life is supposed to feel like.

Right now, he doesn't need perfection.
He needs a safe place to land. 🏡❤️

🚨 HAVEN PAWS NEEDS YOU — DESPERATELY.

We are at the final stretch, but we cannot cross the finish line alone. 💔

Haven Paws Dog Rescue is working to close out our remaining veterinary balances and properly finish the care of the final dogs in our program.

I have fought for these dogs, said yes when they had nowhere else to go, and promised them that their story would not end in a shelter or on the streets.

Now we need our community to help us keep that promise.

A FINAL UPDATE FROM HAVEN PAWS DOG RESCUE 🩷

As many of you know, Haven Paws Dog Rescue has been transitioning away from active rescue operations as I focus on my family.

I have spent years doing everything I could for animals, families, friends, community members, and fellow organizations—often going above and beyond, including financially sacrificing within my own one-income household.

I am incredibly grateful for the fosters, volunteers, donors, trainers, veterinarians, and rescues who have genuinely supported Haven Paws along the way. There are people who showed up with nothing but pure intentions, and I will always be thankful for them.

At the same time, rescue has taught me some very difficult lessons. Animal welfare can be beautiful, but it can also be incredibly ugly. I have experienced situations where help was later used against me, my efforts were discredited, and relationships I once valued became unhealthy.

I am no longer willing to sacrifice my mental wellbeing or my family for rescue.
My two and a half year old and my two month old need their mama fully present. That is where my priority belongs now.

The LAST TWO babies under Haven Paws Dog Rescue will be heading North on September 11th.

I am still urgently looking for a temporary foster from August 29th–September 11th to take one final ride with myself and HPDR.

You will continue to see donation posts from Haven Paws. While our intake and active rescue operations are ending, we still have outstanding obligations that must be paid. Currently, we have approximately $4,812 owed to BluePearl and $910 owed to the county. These are bills I cannot personally cover, and donations are the only way I can close them out responsibly.

Every donation, no matter the amount, will go directly toward helping Haven Paws fulfill those remaining obligations and officially close this chapter.

After these final two dogs leave, please respect that Haven Paws Dog Rescue will not be taking new animal-in-need requests.

✨ Please do not tag me, contact me, or refer people to me for animals needing rescue, surrender, placement, or assistance. I will not be responding to those requests.

This does not mean I stopped caring about animals.

It means I am finally putting my children and my family first.
