Another great program that ASEF is happy to support!

NEW eSports Offering at the High School!

We are excited to announce ASRSD will field an official eSports high school team. This team, which will be split into JV and varsity, will begin on September 30 under the direction of eSports Coach of the Year Amy Doyle ([email protected]).

The cost of this program is the same as all sports: a one-time per school year fee of $250, which covers ALL athletic programs for the school year. eSports will have three seasons, fall, winter and spring. This fee covers all three seasons should you choose to participate in all three. You can participate in eSports while also participating on other athletic teams in the same season (with the understanding that your MIAA-sponsored sport must take priority).

The Ayer Shirley Education Foundation (ASEF) would like to express its sincere gratitude for the generous donation made by the late Lilian (“Lili”) Johnston who named ASEF as a benefactor in her will. An endowment has been created with her donation which will be used to fund additional grants in each of our four district schools for years to come with the goal of impacting the greatest number of students possible. A scholarship has also been established in her name for a graduating senior who plans to further their education with an interest in entering the teaching profession.

For those who are unfamiliar with this special person, Lili was a former first-grade teacher in the Ayer Public School system for more than three decades and was simply known as “Mrs. J”. Her joy and passion for teaching was evident in the fond memories of her shared by many former students and their parents. Lili loved people and was at her best when around them, making friends wherever she went. Always ready to help when needed, Lili was a volunteer at heart; her years working at the “Shop for Your Parents” program brought her much joy. Her small acts of kindness knew no bounds, touching the lives of many who knew her.

Sadly, Lili passed away in 2022, but her memory lives on. ASEF is honored to carry on Lili’s legacy that she had on our school community and because of her gift that nurturing spirit will continue to be present. ASEF looks forward to working together with our district educators to continue to provide opportunities and support for all students.

Congratulations to the Lilian M. Johnston Education Scholarship recipient Susannah Simpson!

ASEF is proud to offer a new scholarship beginning this year, 2024, in honor of the late Lilian "Lili" Johnston and named the Lilian M. Johnston Education Scholarship. Lili was a former first-grade teacher in the Ayer Public School system for more than three decades. Her joy and passion for teaching was evident in the fond memories of her by many former students and their parents. The Lilian M. Johnston Education Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior who plans to further their education with an interest in entering the teaching profession.

The ASEF Board of Directors are pleased to announce this years Grant Recipients. We funded 31 grants for a total of $30,000. This was our largest pool of applicants to date. These grants are made possible due in large part to the Holdenwood Trail Run and the Janis Bresnahan Run for Education.
