Interact clubs bring together young people ages 12-18 to develop leadership skills while discovering the power of Service Above Self. Find out how serious leadership can be seriously fun.

What are the benefits?

Connect with leaders in your community and around the world to:

1. Take action to make a difference in your school and community,

2. Discover new cultures and promote international understanding,

3. Become a leader in your school and community,

4. Have fun and make new friends from around the world.

What’s involved?

Interact clubs organize at least two projects every year, one that helps their school or community and one that promotes international understanding. The Ayden Rotary Club sponsors this group to help mentor and guide Interactors as they carry out projects and develop leadership skills.

This week, the Ayden Rotary Club was honored to host this year’s recipient of the Delano Wilson Memorial Scholarship, Madison Cornwell.

Madison serves as Ayden-Grifton High School Interact Club President, leads by example in both her school and community, and excels academically; making her a truly deserving recipient and the perfect fit for this scholarship. Her dedication, leadership, and positive impact have already set her apart, and we know this is only the beginning of many great accomplishments to come.

We are incredibly proud of Madison and excited to see all she will achieve as she begins this next chapter at the University of North Carolina.

Congratulations, Madison, and best wishes for continued success in the years ahead!

Today hits the heart in a tender way.

On this day in 2018, Chuck Cannon was named the Ayden Rotary Club Rotarian of the Year, an honor that fit him so well because service wasn’t something he talked about, it was something he lived.

Chuck passed away on October 4, 2022, but his presence is still woven into the spirit of our club and our community. We feel it in the way we serve, the way we show up for each other, and the way we try to lead with kindness, just like he did.

We miss him. We remember him. And we’re grateful for the legacy he left behind.

Today our Rotary Club wants to recognize one of our own. It is a true honor to recognize and celebrate fellow Rotarian, Melvin Loftin, on an incredible milestone of 45 years of dedicated service with Grady-White Boats.

Melvin’s professional journey is marked by unwavering commitment, exceptional experience, and a passion for serving others. His willingness to travel across the country to support dealers and customers speaks volumes about his work ethic and the pride he takes in all he does.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Melvin’s impact within our Rotary Club and community is just as remarkable. As our Club Secretary, he has served with dedication, reliability, and a quiet leadership that keeps our organization strong and moving forward. Community is strongest when we come together to serve others.

The Ayden Christian Care Center supported by more than 16 churches across Ayden and Winterville continues to make a meaningful impact by serving residents of Ayden and Grifton. We were honored to hear from representatives Dennis Levin and Bill Norris, and to see the continued support from our local businesses.

Tonight, the Ayden Rotary Club proudly donated $1,000 to help further this important mission. In addition, Ayden-Grifton High School Interact Club members Zachary Loftin and Slater Persinger presented canned goods collected during their April meeting, demonstrating that service starts at every age.

This is what true collaboration looks like churches, schools, businesses, and civic organizations all working together to uplift our community through service.

Good Friday is truly a good day to give back.

Today, members of the Ayden-Grifton High School Interact Club were excited to deliver Easter bags to children at the hospital, bringing a little extra joy during the holiday season. This meaningful effort has become an annual service project for our club, and it’s always one of the highlights of our year.
Afterward, we continued another favorite tradition and gathered for lunch at Sup Dogs in Greenville. It was a wonderful time of food, fellowship, laughter, and celebrating the impact these students are making in our community.

We truly love working with these young leaders. Watching their passion for service, compassion for others, and willingness to give their time is incredibly inspiring. The future is bright with students like these leading the way.

Women of Rotary in action!

Tonight at the Ayden Rotary Club meeting, we had the pleasure of hearing from two impressive young leaders from Ayden-Grifton High School Interact Club President Maddie Cornwell and Vice President Carson Cornwell. They shared updates on the many great initiatives and service projects happening through their club, and it was inspiring to see their passion for leadership and community service.

Rotary has long believed in empowering the next generation, and evenings like this remind us why that mission matters. As women of Rotary, we are especially proud to support and mentor young women who are stepping up, finding their voices, and making a difference in their schools and communities.

The future is bright when strong, service-minded leaders are already making an impact. Proud of these young women and grateful for the opportunity to encourage and support them along the way.
