🌿💙 A NEW CHAPTER AT WINDWOOD! 💚🌿

We are thrilled to welcome Tosha Connors as the new Chief Executive Officer of Windwood Family Services! 💙

Tosha officially joined the Windwood family on August 3, beginning an exciting new chapter for an organization that has spent 40 years providing help, hope, and healing to children and families. 💚

A proud South Carolinian and longtime Lowcountry nonprofit leader, Tosha brings nearly a decade of experience serving individuals and families impacted by trauma, along with a proven record of organizational growth, advocacy, partnership, and compassionate leadership. 🙌

Most recently, Tosha served as CEO of My Sister’s House, where she led tremendous organizational growth while expanding critical services for survivors and their families. 🌻

Now, she is bringing that experience, passion, and vision to Windwood — with a deep belief in the power of reaching children early and helping them build brighter futures. 🌱

“Windwood has an extraordinary opportunity to make a lasting difference in the lives of children. I am excited to be part of that work.”

We are so excited for what lies ahead and grateful to have Tosha leading Windwood into its next chapter. Please join us in giving her a very warm Windwood welcome! 💙

Welcome to Windwood, Tosha! We’re so glad you’re here. 🏡✨

💚 Every child deserves a safe place to heal, grow, and belong. 💚

At Windwood Farm Home for Children, we provide help, hope, and healing for boys ages 6–16 who are navigating the effects of abuse, neglect, and trauma.

Our goal is to help each child develop the skills they need to successfully transition to a safe and loving home—whether with parents, extended family, a foster family, or through adoption—and to rediscover the joy of being a child. 🌿💚

Together, we can help make sure every child has a home of their own.

During Kinship Care Month, we’re celebrating the relatives, foster families, and caring adults who step forward to give children the safe, stable, and loving homes they deserve. 🏡

South Carolina recently joined the national “A Home for Every Child” initiative to strengthen kinship care, expand foster homes, and help more children remain safely connected to their families and communities.

💚 CELEBRATING A LEGACY OF HOPE 💚

For 28 years, Debbie McKelvey has been at the heart of Windwood Family Services—leading with compassion, conviction, and an unwavering dedication to children.

As Debbie retires as CEO, we pause to honor a remarkable leader whose vision and dedication have transformed Windwood and touched the lives of thousands of children and families across South Carolina.

When Debbie joined Windwood in 1998, she was looking for more than a career. She wanted to work where decisions could be made based on what was best for children—not the bottom line. That commitment became the foundation of her leadership.

Over nearly three decades, Debbie guided an organization doing important work providing a safe residential home for children who had experienced abuse and neglect and expanded its campus, strengthened its programs, established a schoolhouse, and created spaces where children could simply be children.

Recognizing that many children could remain safely with their families when given the right support, Debbie championed the creation and expansion of community-based family services—bringing hope, healing, and prevention directly into homes across South Carolina.

But Debbie’s greatest measure of success was never found in numbers or buildings. It was found in the moments that mattered: a child riding a bike for the first time, catching a fish, learning to read, discovering their own confidence—or returning years later simply to say, Thank you.

She showed up for Windwood every day. She listened. She encouraged. She celebrated every victory. And she never asked others to give more than she was willing to give herself.

As we welcome a new chapter for Windwood, we are first and foremost filled with gratitude for the extraordinary legacy Debbie leaves behind.

Thank you, Debbie, for 28 years of believing in children, believing in Windwood, and showing all of us what it means to lead with heart.

Your impact will live on in every child whose life is changed by Windwood. 💚

🎨 Art from the heart! The boys at Windwood Farm had a wonderful time creating their pieces for the silent auction at our annual fundraising event. As always, Amanda Lamontagne ( ) came to the farm to help the boys plan and collaborate on a gorgeous acrylic-on-wood-panel piece that they were absolutely thrilled to work on together. It is always remarkable to watch them express their unique points of view of the world through art—and show us the incredible mark they want to make on it. ✨Watch the video below to see their creativity, teamwork, and smiles in action! 👇 Thank you Amanda!!

💙 August is Child Support Awareness Month in South Carolina 💙

At Windwood, we know that children need more than a safe place to live. They need to know that the adults in their lives care about them, show up for them, and are working to build a better future.

Child support is one part of that picture. It helps provide children with the resources they need while supporting families as they work toward greater stability and independence.

This month, we’re celebrating the parents, organizations, and community partners working every day to strengthen families and give children the stability, connection, and hope they deserve.

That’s what help, hope, and healing are all about.

Child Support Awareness Month continues throughout August. Learn more about the options available to both custodial and non-custodial parents at: https://dss.sc.gov/child-support/

🙌💚🙌 💚🚲 HUGE SHOUT-OUT & THANK YOU! 🚲💚

We are so grateful to Charleston Harbor Resort and Marina and Evora IT Solutions Solutions for coming together to put these AWESOME Tuesday Cycles bicycles into the hands of kids served through Windwood Family Services in the Lowcountry! 🙌💚

These beautiful bikes are about so much more than two wheels—they’re about joy, confidence, independence, and one of those unforgettable childhood milestones: learning to ride your very own bicycle. 🚲✨

Because of your generosity, children and families in our community will have the opportunity to experience that special moment—and create memories that will last a lifetime. 💚🙌💚🙌

Thank you for making it possible for Windwood Family Services to provide this incredible support to the families we serve. We couldn’t do it without our amazing community! 🙏💚

💙 August is Child Support Awareness Month in South Carolina

💚 Windwood Family Services Family Resource Connection and Preservation Services (FRCPS) is a community-based, multi-faceted family program designed to assist with the needs of children, youth, and caregivers.

👪 The overarching goal of the program is to prevent removal of children from their families and need for further child welfare system involvement.

🌻This month, we’re celebrating the parents, organizations, and community partners working every day to strengthen families and give children the stability, connection, and hope they deserve.

🌈⛅We’re especially grateful for programs that recognize that sometimes parents want to provide for their children but face significant barriers to doing so.

💙Because when parents are given the support they need - children thrive.
