SAVE THE DATE! 📅 U.S. Senator John Fetterman and the Pennsylvania congressional delegation have introduced a bipartisan, bicameral resolution designating June 1 as National Mushroom Day, honoring the industry’s deep roots in Kennett Square and across Chester and Berks Counties.
THE MUSHROOM CAPITAL: 🍄🟫 Pennsylvania growers produce more than 60% of America’s mushrooms, powering jobs, farms, and local economies. “The mushroom industry powers jobs, farms, and communities across Pennsylvania. Our commonwealth is the Mushroom Capital of the World,” said Senator Fetterman. “Pennsylvania is the mushroom capital of the world, and our growers work hard every day to help feed America,” said Senator McCormick. Representative Chrissy Houlahan added, “In Chester and Berks Counties, mushrooms aren’t just a crop—they’re a cornerstone of our local economy and source of great pride.” “Pennsylvania leads the nation in mushroom production, and the growers in Chester and Berks Counties play a critical role in supporting our agricultural economy and food supply,” said Representative Dan Meuser.
A PROUD LEGACY: “On behalf of the American Mushroom Institute and the growers, farm families, and thousands of employees who make up the American mushroom industry, I want to thank our Pennsylvania legislators for their continued recognition and support of our proud legacy,” said Rachel Roberts, President, American Mushroom Institute.
“This recognition shines a spotlight on the magic of mushrooms and their role in American diets. As consumers seek foods that offer great taste, nutrition, and everyday value, mushrooms deliver on every front.” said Amy Wood, President, Mushroom Council.
