Today is a bittersweet day as Officer Patrick “Sully” Sullivan retires after an incredible 48 years in law enforcement—13 of those years proudly serving the City of Avon as a School Resource Officer at our high school.

Sully’s dedication to our agency, our city, and the countless students he mentored throughout the years has left a lasting impact that cannot be measured. He has been more than an officer—he has been a role model, a trusted mentor, and a steady presence in the lives of so many.

We cannot thank you enough for your years of service, commitment, and care for our community. Wishing you a long, happy, and healthy retirement—you have truly earned it.

🚨TRAFFIC ALERT AND PROCESSION INFORMATION

A veteran officer, SWAT, US Marine Corps combat veteran. A son, husband and father. Senselessly killed. We are all grieving this tragic loss, and we all want to help. We will support Lorain Police Department, the fellow officers who were wounded, and Officer Wagner’s family in every way possible.
Today, we will assist in escorting Officer Wagner through our city. We ask for your patience, respect and your compassion.

The procession today will be from Cleveland to Liston Funeral Home in North Ridgeville. They will be departing Cleveland at 4:00pm. The route in North Ridgeville will be I480 west to Lorain Road, north on Lear Nagle, west on Center Ridge to Liston Funeral Home near Stoney Ridge Road. These roads will be closed at this time to pay our respects and allow the procession to stay together.
