Habitat Vail Valley Building to 200. Partnering to build more affordable homeownership opportunities from Gypsum to Vail. Homeowners pay for their homes with zero-interest mortgage.

Over the past 30 years, Habitat Vail Valley has built 146 homes, helping 529 people on their journey to homeownership. From 2025 to 2028, Habitat Vail Valley plans to exceed the 200-home mark three ways: traditional stick built, modular construction and originating zero-interest mortgages through partnerships with local government and for-profit developers. Habitat Vail Valley partners with hardwo

rking families to build the dream of homeownership. Through discounted and donated services, donated and discounted labor and fundraising efforts, Habitat is able to keep the cost of the home building down -- this is the Habitat Advantage. Each homeowner contributes a minimum of 250 hours per adult toward construction; not an easy task while working and raising children. The homeowners have the opportunity to learn during each stage of construction which allows them to understand their new homes from the inside out. Habitat homeowners also take classes including budgeting, home maintenance, landscaping and other skills needed to be responsible homeowners. In 2025, we will provide 30 affordable homeownership opportunities: 10 at IK Bar in Gypsum in partnership with Eagle County School District and 20 at Timber Ridge in Vail.
