Perfect weather for a climb! Our Cub Scouts took on the trail to Heublein Tower this past Saturday. It was a beautiful day to get some fresh air, enjoy the views, and log some hiking miles together. 🥾⛰️ ☀️

We had a blast at our Pack meeting last Thursday! The Scouts crushed the obstacle course and leveled up their nutrition knowledge with a 'My Plate' healthy eating game. They also decorated the cover for the Covered Wagon Derby coming the end of this month in the theme of America’s 250 Anniversary! Great job to everyone for being creative, staying active and learning how to fuel their bodies right! 🏃🍎🥦🇺🇸

Our most recent Pack meeting was fun and heartwarming! Our Cub Scouts worked together to make 80 sandwiches for the Bible Way Temple Nation in Hartford. We received word that they were distributed directly to families in need, and the impact was truly heartwarming.

We also kicked off our countdown to Spring camping! The Scouts had a blast testing out gear and getting a "real feel" for camp life. Nothing beats the excitement of just hanging out in a tent with friends.

Thank you to all the families who donated ingredients and made this service project possible. We are so proud of our Scouts for showing what it means to be helpful!

It is with heavy hearts that Pack 122 shares the news of the passing of Chief James Martino, Jr. For many years, Chief Martino was much more than the former Chief of the Avon Police Department; he was the heart and soul of the Avon Food Pantry. Our Pack has had the privilege of working with him for decades during our annual Thanksgiving and Christmas food drives.

Chief Martino’s life was a masterclass in the Scout Law. He was a "Servant’s Heart" in every sense—humble, kind, and always willing to do the hard work behind the scenes to help a neighbor in need. Whether he was leading the police department or volunteering at the pantry, he showed our Scouts what it truly means to give back to your community.

We are incredibly grateful for the years of partnership and for the example he set for our boys and girls. Our thoughts and prayers are with his sons, his grandchildren, and the entire Martino family.

Rest in peace, Chief. Thank you for everything. ⚜️

Last Friday, our Scouts had a fantastic time joining other local units to watch the Avon High School basketball team take on Simsbury High School. We couldn’t have asked for a more exciting game—it was all tied up at 45 with just one minute to go!

Simsbury pulled away in the final seconds for a 61–56 victory, but the spirits were high all night. And honestly, as a Pack with families from both Avon and Simsbury, we think it’s a win for our community either way!

Huge thanks to Avon High School for inviting us out for a great night of sportsmanship and fun.

🚗 It’s the Big Trip! The Cub Scouts of Pack 122 took a fantastic adventure to EcoTarium this past weekend! Everyone had fun exploring the science (or magic 🪄) and spend the night in the museum. How cool!

Our rocket launch was a blast—literally! Scouts had a great time launching rockets, cheering each other on, and reaching for the skies. Thank you to all the families and leaders who made it an unforgettable day. More adventures ahead!

We begin with heartfelt gratitude to all the fallen heroes who gave their lives in service to our country. 🇺🇸

This past Monday, Pack 122 had the honor of marching in the Avon Memorial Day Parade. The weather was perfect — clear skies, a gentle breeze, and just the right temperature. Our Cub Scouts proudly walked alongside fellow Scouts and community members, and we were deeply touched by the warmth and enthusiasm of the crowd. So many people lined the streets waving and cheering — a beautiful reminder of the strong support and spirit of our Avon community.

Thank you to all the leaders, Cub Scouts, and families who participated and made this event so meaningful. It was truly a day of remembrance, connection, and Scouting pride. 💙💛

From nutrition-themed games to fun crafts and a delicious snack break, our Cub Scouts stayed active and engaged the whole evening! They also got to enjoy some time running outdoors and building great friendships along the way. Huge thanks to all our leaders and volunteers who made it possible. Adventure truly is calling!
