Heartland Hearts Is Heading to the Lake

Our first Heartland Hearts gathering at Tropical Winery turned into such an amazing day, and I knew before it was over that we had to do something like it again.

So we rented a house on Lake Charlotte.

On August 29, we’re having a good old fashioned Backyard Bash on the lake, and this one is completely FREE.

I think as women we sometimes get so busy being everything to everybody that we forget how important it is to just have fun. To laugh. To meet new people. To sit beside the water and have a conversation with another woman who may be in a completely different season of life than we are.

That’s really what I want Heartland Hearts to be about.

We’ll have yoga, kayaking, beach time, yard games, karaoke, BBQ, music and some fun things planned throughout the day. Or you can do absolutely none of that and just find a chair by the lake and enjoy yourself.

Come in your swimsuit. Come ready to sing. Come with your girlfriends. Come by yourself. Please don’t let that stop you. Part of the whole purpose of doing this is giving women in our community a chance to meet each other.

We’ll be there from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, August 29 on Lake Charlotte in Sebring. Because we’re doing this at a private lakefront home, space is limited and we do need you to RSVP. The exact location will be shared with those attending.

We also have very limited overnight sleepover space for anyone who wants to stay after the Backyard Bash ends. If you’re interested in the overnight option, reach out right away. Women spend so much time showing up for everyone else. Maybe this is simply a chance to show up for ourselves and for each other.

Congratulations MsCrys Crys

Crystal Bryant was born and raised in Avon Park, Florida, as the sixth of twelve children. Her upbringing was shaped by a strong sense of family and compassion, especially after her mother adopted six additional children, further expanding their household.

Crystal was a resident of the Avon Park Housing Authority from first grade through ninth grade. During those formative years, she developed a deep passion for social services, meaningful connections, and community support—values that continue to guide her work today.

She is the proud mother of a 16-year-old high school senior and a devoted fur mom. Crystal holds a master’s degree in Applied Behavior Analysis and currently serves as a mental health counselor at a local outpatient facility, where she is committed to supporting individuals and families through their challenges.

In April 2025, Crystal was appointed as a Commissioner of the Avon Park Housing Authority and was elected Chair of the Board in September 2025. In her role as Chair, her mission is to strengthen advocacy for the families served by the Authority by ensuring residents feel seen, safe, stable, and supported.
