🎉 You’re invited to help shape what comes next at The Anchor! 🎉

We are excited to host an Anchor Community Focus Group on Tuesday, August 4, from 4:00 to 5:00 PM at the Anchor space.

We have developed an exciting lineup of programming for The Anchor, and now we want to hear from you. Come learn more about what is planned, share your feedback, and help us identify additional programs, activities, and experiences the community would love to see.

Teens through seniors are welcome, and parents may bring their children too. Your ideas will help us make The Anchor even more responsive, inclusive, and engaging for all communities and every generation.

The Summer 2026 Shoregals Shooting Club officially kicked off yesterdayJune 4th! From June 4th through August 17th, all Avon Lake girls are eligible to participate in this shooting challenge.

The ability to shoot the basketball at a high level is a large differentiator for the best players & teams. As part of this challenge, Paul Appel and the Shoregals will have open shooting days in June & July where members of the high school staff will be available to help players work on shooting form, rebound, etc. as they get shots up and work towards their goal. Dates for open shooting days are noted below.

In addition, participants can earn various prizes based on the number of shots taken this summer. Prize levels are noted below. Upon completion of the program, please take a picture of the attached form and email it to Coach Appel by August 31st. Please also tag us on social media () as your daughter progresses towards her goal!

Coming soon in 2026, the anchor will be reimagined to support the community with new and exciting programming under a private all-Avon Lake team partnering directly with the city to grow community offerings.
Our goal is to meet the needs of the city in a cost-friendly atmosphere that builds community and partners with existing programs and develops new ones.

To achieve this, we'd like to host community focus groups for:
1. Moms and dads with preschool and school-aged kids,
2. Seniors above 60,
3. 20-60 year-old adults with no kids, and
4. Teens. These focus groups will be held at the anchor or library within the next three weeks.
