We are incredibly grateful for the support we receive from Good Neighbor Thrift Shop! Their support extends far beyond our pantry expansion/renovation project. If we have clients with household item needs, Good Neighbor provides us vouchers that we can give our clients to extend our support beyond food and emergency financial assistance needs.

Partnerships like this are what allow us to do our important work!

Mission Monday:
At our last Thrift Shop Board meeting we voted to donate money to Community Resource Services (CRS) of Avon Lake. They have been in the process of expanding their food pantry so they may be able to serve more people. We helped cover the expenses of renovating some of their flooring. We are proud to have been partnered with them for many years and the great work they are doing in our community.

🏈🥣 It’s almost SOUPer Bowl Friday! 🥣🏈

Our shelves are looking a little empty, and we need YOUR help to fill them! ❤️

Monetary donations are always appreciated, but we’re especially in need of:

- Side Dishes (ie. mashed potatoes, rice, pasta mixes, cornbread & more!)
- Canned Fruit
- Canned Chicken
- Jelly
-Hearty Soups

VOLUNTEER REQUEST

Hi Friends!

We will be tabling at the Love Coffee Roasters Pumpkin Fest tomorrow (Saturday, October 10)!

We have a Board Member taking our initial 8:30-10:30 time slot but still have two time-slot openings. We are looking for someone to take the 10:30-12:30 time slot and the 12:30 - 3:00 time slot.

We would really love to fill these as Love Coffee Roasters have been tremendous supporters of ours and there is a food drive tied to this event. For every non-perishable food item, the donor will receive a mini pumpkin (thanks to our landlord Stop 65/Rockwood Living)!

Avon vs. Avon Lake is happening on the football field Friday, Oct. 16, but the real contest is happening in the pantry.

The 16th annual SOUPer Bowl Food Drive pits the two towns against each other to see who can collect the most food by weight. The winner gets announced at halftime at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium (175 Avon Belden Rd., Avon Lake) and takes home the SOUPer Bowl Trophy.

Everything collected goes to Community Resource Services' food pantry and emergency financial help for families in both cities.

We are officially ONE WEEK AWAY from SOUPer Bowl XVI!

Avon Heritage Student Council is in full swing with a cereal drive in support of Avons attempt at back to back SOUPer Bowl victories.

Please share any of your other efforts that are ongoing in the community so we can highlight the generosity around SOUPer Bowl!

Who will win? Avon or Avon Lake?!

Brendan serves as Global Marketing and Communications Manager at STERIS and was officially elected to the CRS Board during our September meeting.

What an incredible impact! ❤️

Thanks to the The Community Foundation of Lorain County Connect to a Cause day of giving, more than $610,000 was donated to nonprofits serving Lorain County.

We are deeply grateful to the CFLC staff, the many Lorain County businesses, and every generous donor who helped make this day such a success. Your support strengthens organizations across our community and helps create lasting impact.

We are especially thankful to everyone who chose CRS as their nonprofit to support. Through Connect to a Cause, $4,428.56 was donated to CRS, with 100% of those funds going directly toward our endowment. That investment will help support CRS and the people we serve for years to come.

A special thank you as well to CRS Board Member, Chris Spaetzel, for joining Executive Director, Ryan Virtue, at yesterday’s celebration and representing CRS as we recognized the generosity that made this effort possible.

Thank you to everyone who gave, shared, supported, and celebrated. We are fortunate to be part of such a generous community!

We are incredibly grateful to North Coast Rotary Club and Foundation and Rotary District 6600 for their generous grant supporting our pantry expansion and renovation project!

This morning, North Coast Rotary President, Jamie Wise and fellow members Jinnyn Tara and Cathy Pugh, presented the grant check on behalf of their membership to our Executive Director, Ryan Virtue. Their amazing support covers the cost of carpeting for our newly renovated pantry space. This was an important step in helping us create a more welcoming, functional environment for the neighbors we serve.

Rotary’s motto, “Service Above Self,” is truly reflected in the way North Coast Rotaty continues to show up for our organization. We shared our gratitude recently for the Rotary volunteers who donated their time (and plenty of muscle!) to help us move furniture and prepare the space for the carpet installation. Their willingness to roll up their sleeves and help wherever needed means so much to our team.

We are also deeply thankful to FCI-Cleveland West owners Jen and John Toth for their tremendous generosity in supporting this project and completing the carpeting work at cost. Their partnership helped make this renovation possible and allowed every dollar of support to go even further.

To North Coast Rotary, District 6600, Floor Coverings International, and every volunteer who has helped us with this project so far: THANK YOU. Your generosity, service, and commitment to our community are making a meaningful difference, and we are so grateful to have you as partners in our work. ❤️

We are incredibly grateful to American Legion Post 211 and its members for their generous $15,000 donation in support of CRS!

A special thank you to Len Lieberman and Joe Rada for personally stopping by to deliver the check.

With this latest gift, American Legion Post 211 has now donated an amazing $35,000 to CRS over the past three years. Their continued generosity and commitment to our mission means so much to us and to the neighbors we serve.
