❤️ Big hearts can make a BIG impact at any age! ❤️
We’re incredibly excited to recognize Lydia and Owen Simecek, two young members of our community who recently took it upon themselves to organize a food drive in support of their neighbors.
From August 1–8, Lydia and Owen reached out to family, friends and neighbors, and the response was AMAZING!Together, they collected and donated an incredible 413.65 pounds of food to CRS!
Lydia, who is entering 8th grade, and Owen, who is entering 6th grade, both at Saint Joseph Parish Avon Lake , organized and handled the entire food drive themselves. We are so impressed by their initiative, compassion and desire to help others.
We also have to give a special shoutout to their grandmother, Kris Simecek, one of our wonderful CRS weekly pantry volunteers. Kris has brought Lydia and Owen along to volunteer with her several times this summer, giving them an opportunity to see firsthand what it means to serve their community. We love seeing that spirit of generosity continue into the next generation! ❤️
Lydia and Owen are a wonderful reminder that you don’t have to be a certain age, have a lot of resources or do something enormous to make a meaningful difference. When we each use what we have…our time, our energy, our ideas and our hearts…we can create a tremendous impact for neighbors who could use a little extra love and support.
👏 Please join us in giving Lydia, Owen and their grandmother Kris a huge CRS shoutout. We would also like to express a big THANK YOU to all of the family, friends and neighbors who supported their food drive!
