Status Updated: [10/6/2026 – 9:00 PM]
Next Scheduled Update: As more information is available Tuesday

Summary:

Tuesday Morning Progress Update: As crews filled the distribution system, the water level in the tower drops as water moves into the pipes. Overnight, the tower was able to refill and held its level well throughout the night. This is a good sign that residents are following the do not use order, and we thank you for your continued cooperation. With the tower full again, crews can continue filling more areas of town today.

Media Release – Watermain Break Incident Update – 6:15 PM Press Release
City of Carlisle Public Works News Posted on October 5, 2026
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Date: October 5, 2026
Contact: City Administrator Deven Markley

Public Works Director Tony Rhinehart provided the following update on today’s progress.

At 9 a.m. today, crews began refilling the city's water distribution system, the network of pipes that carries water throughout the community. Pipes serving several blocks of town have now been filled, but a large area of town still needs to be filled.

Refilling the system is a slow and methodical process. Crews are filling the pipes gradually to ensure the work is done safely, and they are checking for potential leaks along the way. This work will continue through this evening and into tomorrow.

The water tower and water treatment plant continue to function as expected.

The DO NOT USE order remains in effect. Please do not use tap water for any purpose, and do not take any action with your water lines, until the city notifies you that it is safe to do so.
