Hey ARCO Members,

The board is writing to provide an important update regarding the ongoing road infrastructure improvements within the ARCO community. A dedicated team has been diligently working on several crucial maintenance projects, which include comprehensive ditching, the strategic resetting and replacement of culverts to enhance drainage, and the application of fresh gravel followed by grading. These efforts are designed to improve the overall quality and longevity of our roadways.

Unfortunately, the final stages of this work, particularly the precise grading, have encountered an unforeseen delay. Due to recent adverse weather conditions, specifically persistent rainfall, we were unable to complete these critical tasks as initially planned before the Memorial Day weekend.

Consequently, residents may experience temporarily uneven road surfaces in various sections. We anticipate that these conditions will prevail for approximately two additional weeks, as we await suitable weather to finalize the grading process efficiently and effectively.

We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this adjusted timeline may cause and greatly appreciate your patience and understanding as we endeavor to deliver a durable and high-quality road network for the benefit of all ARCO members.

Hey ARCO members,

Quick heads-up on the roads!

We're excited to let you know that our ARCO roads are officially open and ready for you to use, starting May 9, 2026! Patrick Ryan did a thorough inspection Friday evening, and we're good to go.

Now, for a bit of a reality check – while it's great news they're open, they're definitely not perfect yet. We've still got a lot of grading and repair work ahead of us. Even with some initial drying, you'll find the roads pretty challenging.

So, please, *please* drive super carefully and slowly when you're out there. Expect a very bumpy ride with lots of potholes and some really deep ruts. Seriously, take your time!

A couple of spots really need your extra attention:

****Loop Road Approach:** When you hit that second turn towards Loop Road, watch out for some super deep ruts that could give your car a bit of a shake.
****Culvert Concerns:** We've got five culverts that need fixing. For now, keep a sharp eye out and slow right down, especially around the culvert just after Loony Bin Camp, and another one right before Beach Road. These two are a bit dicey.

ONE IMPORTANT THING: we need to put a temporary ban on heavy equipment like tractors on all ARCO roads for now. This is really important so we don't make things worse and can get those essential repairs started. We'll let you know as soon as that changes!

Your safety is always our top priority. So, please, take your time, stay alert, and drive for the conditions out there. We can't wait to see you all safely back in the Averills!

Effective April 19, 2026, at 3:20 p.m., ARCO roads are officially closed and the gate has been securely locked. We will notify you upon their reopening.

***ARCO ROAD CLOSURE***

This message provides an important update regarding access to ARCO roads and camps, prompted by the latest extended weather forecasts and current ground conditions.

According to the 14-day forecast, we anticipate fluctuating temperatures, with daytime highs ranging from the mid-40s to upper 50s, and nighttime lows dropping into the 30s. Several days are also predicted to exceed 50 degrees accompanied by periods of rain.

Currently, ARCO roads are exhibiting signs of saturation and softness, with several areas already compromised from the Spring thaw. The combination of sustained temperatures in the 40s and additional rainfall is expected to significantly exacerbate these conditions, leading to considerable degradation and potential damage to the road infrastructure.

To safeguard the integrity of our roads and prevent further erosion, the board made the difficult but necessary decision to implement a temporary closure.

**Effective April 19, 2026, at 3:00 PM, all community roads will be closed, and gates will be securely locked.**

We kindly request that you make the necessary arrangements to secure your camps and relocate any valuable personal property or equipment prior to this closure time. Please ensure all preparations are finalized before the stated deadline.

Furthermore, to assist in preserving the current road conditions and facilitate future repair efforts, the Board asks that no heavy equipment, tractors, or deliveries be scheduled or attempted until further notice.

The road commissioner will continuously monitor weather patterns and road stability. Road grading and maintenance will commence as soon as conditions are favorable, and we will promptly communicate the reopening of access once it is safe and appropriate to do so.

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in adhering to these essential measures. We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back this Spring under improved conditions.

The ARCO beaches at Great Averill and Little Averill are shared among ARCO Camp Owners. In compliance with ARCO Rules and Regulations for common lands, please respect the following:

-No bathroom or trash bin available. ( #5,7)
-Leave no trace. Carry in, carry out. ( #7)
-Do not leave cigarette waste ( #7)
-No camping ( #8)
-No fires of any kind ( #9)
-No fireworks ( #8,9)
-Verbal and physical aggression will not be tolerated ( #8)
-Do not leave items, including tents or chairs overnight ( #8)
-Dogs must be leashed and under owner command, clean up after your pet. ( #8)
