SHAC is holding a Volunteer Orientation Meeting on Tuesday January 31, 2023 from 6:00 to 6:45. We value your time so the meeting will be short. There will be a brief presentation and the forms will be available for formal sign up. Questions are welcome and I will be available after the meeting if you feel your questions were not adequately addressed. We have a wide range of opportunities for all appropriate ages and skill levels. Do you have a special skill? We are interested! We eagerly welcome all suggestions for new activities and programs.

We have an exciting new opportunity for February. SHAC will be running a Winter Break Program from February 20-23. We will need 10-12 volunteers.

You never know what might grow from attending one meeting. New friends, a new skill or a great sense of satisfaction that you have made a difference.

Thank you to all of the candidates who are running for Averill Park CSD Board of Education! The election and budget vote are being held at Averill Park High School on Tuesday, May 17, 2022 from 7am-9pm. If anyone is interested in voting but doesn’t have transportation, please comment below or send a message to It Takes a Village - Averill Park, NY with your general location and hopefully we can set you up with someone willing to carpool. Anyone willing to help with transportation, please comment below or send a message as well.

“I'm going to switch it up and make face masks for family, friends and the local community. If anyone in the community needs face masks, I'm going to be making them and donating to anyone in need. I'm including a pic of them as well. This first batch is gone and I'm working on another bigger batch, but it may take a few days since supplies (elastic and interfacing) are hard to get these days. I'm making three sizes - large, medium and child sizes. Anyway, text me at 518.894.9785 if you need them - and pass it along - I'll make them for first responders, local restaurants, businesses, my local community (Westfall Village) and anyone else that needs them.”
