Yesterday was more than just a ribbon cutting—it was a celebration of what can happen when a community comes together to care for one another.

Our newly expanded DOCO Blessing Box is officially open, and we couldn’t be more grateful.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to Summit Natural Gas and the Summit Cares Grant Program for believing in this project and providing the funding to make this expansion possible. Because of your generosity, we’ll be able to better serve the growing number of individuals and families who rely on the Blessing Box.

Thank you to Justin Bassett, Michael Cox, and Gabriel Cox who brought the vision to life with such care and craftsmanship. You created something that will make a lasting difference in our community.

Thank you to every individual, business, church, and organization that has donated food, hygiene products, baby supplies, books, and other essentials. Every donation represents hope for someone who needs it. A very special special thank to you Griffin and Adeline Giambelluca who were the first donators for the new box.

A very special thank you goes to the amazing Baldwin family who faithfully organize, clean, maintain, and lovingly care for the Blessing Box week after week. While many people see the finished product, they don’t always see the countless hours spent behind the scenes making sure it’s welcoming, organized, and ready for the next person in need. Your quiet acts of kindness have touched more lives than you know.

And finally, thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday to celebrate. We are reminded once again that kindness grows when a community chooses to work together.

We have some exciting news to share!!

We are thrilled to share that DOCO has been awarded a grant to remodel and expand our Blessing Box!

Our Blessing Box has become an important resource for families throughout our community, and we're incredibly grateful that this grant will allow us to make it larger, more accessible, and better able to meet the growing need.

As many of you know, Douglas County is one of the most economically challenged counties in Missouri. Every day, we see neighbors helping neighbors, and that's exactly what this project is all about - letting YOU be part of the solution.

To celebrate the grand opening of our expanded Blessing Box, we're asking our amazing community to help us fill it!

Operation Bless our Box begins tomorrow!

We're going to be collecting donations of:
- Non-perishable food items
- Hygiene products
- Baby Supplies (We're talking diapers, wipes, formula, baby food, toiletries, etc...)

We're also having a contest! While collecting items over the next 10 days, we will be "filling shelves". For every shelf filled, we will celebrate by drawing one donor to receive a FREE Lead with Kindness t-shirt! You'll receive one entry per donation visit!

Not able to participate with donations? You'll also receive an entry for sharing this post!

No time to shop? You can bring by monetary donations and our fabulous disabled employees will go shopping for you!

Donations can be dropped off at DOCO (inside - please do NOT put in the Blessing Box if you want an entry. It MUST come inside!) during regular business hours of Monday through Thursday 8a-5p! Our tentative grand opening will be Thursday, July 23rd. The Blessing Box WILL be closed during the construction which starts Tuesday, July 21st.

Together, we can make sure our newly expanded Blessing Box opens overflowing with hope, kindness, and practical support for local families.
