Douglas County Dispatch 2024 report.
The Douglas County Dispatch Center is the hardest job in the entire department. It is manned by 4 full-time and 1 part-time dispatcher, with only one dispatcher per shift.
The Douglas County Dispatchers answer all non-emergency calls and 911 calls, tone first responders, and enter and confirm all warrants.
The Douglas County Dispatch Center answered 29,067 incoming calls in addition to 316 County 911 calls, and 179 City 911 calls in 2024. 911 has only been up and operating since September 2024.
The Douglas County Dispatch tones all emergency responders to emergency situations in the county. If an ambulance or First Responder shows up to help you, our Dispatcher got them there.
Dispatching is not a position that I can hire anyone for. A Dispatcher must be able to pass a background check and become licensed by completing a MULES certification and attending 911 training, with annual recertification.
Dispatch entered a total of 844 warrants and registered 60 s*x offenders in 2024.
Once again, we struggled in 2024 with keeping dispatch positions filled due to low salaries. With the recent passage of the use tax this year we are looking forward to 2025 resolving this issue.
Thank You all for your continued support.
