Dear Friends! We regret to inform everyone that the Pioneer Heritage Festival of the Ozarks nonprofit has dissolved. We are thankful to all those who have participated over the last eight years, and grateful for the financial support we've received from local businesses and private individuals, as well as the state-funded Missouri Arts Council.
Our remaining board members and core volunteers have been facing the limitations that come with aging, medical issues, and other personal reasons which have made many of us unable to continue. Putting on a festival requires a lot of work and time. Unfortunately, our repeated calls for additional volunteers and new board members to fill vacancies has not been met. Hopefully in the future a new group will emerge to create a new festival for Douglas County.
As a 501(c)3) nonprofit our remaining assets are being transferred to the Douglas County Museum and Historical Society, whose mission is very much like our own. We hope the community will support them in keeping the traditions of Ozarks culture alive!
We wish everyone the best!

Our overnight security guard, Bob K - doesn't he look intimidating?? He must have been, 'cause nobody had anything stolen (that we know of anyway....) Our president Nina staffed the admin booth and guarded the donations in the butter churn and raffle buckets. I still have to get the pics from the kid's games and costume contest, but will post those soon! Thanks to everybody who made our seventh annual Pioneer Heritage Festival of the Ozarks possible!

As always, Deborah Herrera did a fantastic job in organizing our Bakin' From Scratch contest. I'm glad I didn't have to judge these scrumptious delights, 'cause it had to be a tough call!
