You think Flock cameras are Bad.
They are controlling our kid in their classroom!! Wake up and speak out!!
The Texas State Board of Education is scheduled to vote Friday, September 4, 2026, on final adoption of the new Applied Personal Financial Literacy TEKS. Texans need to CONTACT the SBOE members NOW and tell them: VOTE NO.
I believe Texas students should learn personal financial literacy.
Teach our children how to budget.
Teach them to save.
Teach them about credit cards, interest, debt, mortgages, taxes, insurance, investing and retirement.
Teach them how to recognize financial scams and how to live within their means.
Those are life skills.
But parents need to understand what has happened to the Personal Financial Literacy course now before the Texas State Board of Education.
This is no longer simply a financial literacy course.
It has expanded into economics, career planning, postsecondary education, financial aid, FAFSA, artificial intelligence, algorithms, financial technology, entrepreneurship, business structures, market research, supply and demand, financing, marketing and sales.

This is where my concern becomes much greater.
Texas parents need to understand that this discussion is happening inside an education system that already collects and reports enormous amounts of information about students.
And Texas has already connected financial-aid activity to high school graduation.
Under current Texas law, a student must do one of three things before graduating:
Complete and submit FAFSA
Complete and submit TASFA
OR formally opt out
Parents need to understand that last option.
YOU CAN OPT OUT.
A parent or guardian can submit the Financial Aid Application Opt-Out Form.
TEA specifically states that a parent does not have to provide a reason for declining.
Parents need to know this.
A family should never be left believing that turning over financial information through FAFSA is the only way their child can receive a Texas high school diploma.
It isn’t.
