One year ago, we welcomed Erica Castillo to the Colorado River Alliance—and what a year it’s been!

As Programs Director, Erica has brought her commitment to community, collaboration, and impact to every corner of our work. From expanding education programs to connecting new audiences with the Texas Colorado River, her leadership continues to make a difference every day.

With more than two decades of nonprofit and program leadership experience, Erica brings vision, dedication, and a collaborative spirit to everything she does. We’re so grateful for her commitment to growing impactful programs and building meaningful partnerships.

Still thinking about this day 💧☀️

From sunny lake views to new friendships and a shared commitment to protecting the Texas Colorado River, the 4th Annual Lake Austin Cleanup gave us plenty of reasons to smile.

Days like this remind us that caring for the river is a community effort and that small actions add up to a healthier river for future generations.

Did you know the Texas Colorado River flows through a chain of seven lakes known as the Highland Lakes?

From Lake Buchanan to Lady Bird Lake, these lakes provide opportunities to paddle, fish, swim, boat, camp, and connect with nature all summer long.

The lakes are more than recreation destinations. Together, the Highland Lakes help supply water to communities across Central Texas, support wildlife habitat, and play an important role in the health of the Texas Colorado River.

As you get outside and enjoy the water this summer, remember to help protect the lakes you love:
✔ Pack out trash
✔ Respect wildlife
✔ Practice water conservation
✔ Leave places better than you found them

We’re proud to share that Colorado River Alliance Executive Director Adrienne Longenecker has joined The New Philanthropists’ Legacy Leadership Circle, an advisory council made up of community leaders helping shape a more diverse and inclusive future for philanthropy in Central Texas.

The Legacy Leadership Circle brings together leaders from across the community to help expand opportunity, strengthen connections, and support meaningful impact throughout the region.
