It’s Water Wednesday 💧

Did you know the Texas Colorado River may not have always been called the Colorado River?

Early Spanish explorers referred to the river as “Brazos de Dios,” meaning “Arms of God,” because of the many tributaries and streams that flowed together to form the river.

Historians also believe the names of the Colorado and Brazos Rivers may have been switched during early exploration in Texas.

Today, the Texas Colorado River connects communities across the state and provides water for millions of Texans.

What if water science came to your school? 💧

The Mobile River is Colorado River Alliance’s traveling water science center, bringing hands-on learning directly to students across the Texas Colorado River basin.

Inside a 42-foot trailer, students explore interactive exhibits, models, and games that teach how water moves, where it comes from, and why it matters.

For many schools, this program provides access to real-world STEM experiences that might not otherwise be possible.

And it’s making an impact by connecting thousands of students to the river each year.
