Staff, students and their families are invited to represent Austin ISD in the annual Austin Pride Parade on Saturday, Aug. 20. We are to celebrate our LGBTQIA+ students, staff and families and to highlight our commitment to creating a safe, supportive and inclusive environment for all!
Free Shuttle:
We have two shuttle site options for students and staff and one shuttle site for staff only. Please arrive by 6 p.m. to ensure a seat on the bus, as space is limited. Buses will depart promptly at 6:30 p.m. If you ride the bus to the parade, you are expected to ride the bus back. Note: Middle school and elementary students must be accompanied by an adult.
NORTH: Nelson Field (High School side of stadium) Capacity 90 - 7105 Berkman Dr. Austin, TX 78752
SOUTH: Burger Stadium (Hwy 71 side of stadium) Capacity 90 - 200 Jones Rd. Austin, TX 78745
Central Office (Walmart side of building) Staff Only – Capacity 40 - 4000 S. IH-35 Austin, TX 78704
Drive Yourself:
Limited paid parking is available at State Parking Garage A at 1401 San Jacinto via the Trinity Street entrance. Please consider traffic. Meet at the AISD school bus near San Jacinto and E. 12th St. at 7:30 p.m.
Length of Parade:
The parade begins at 8 p.m. The parade route is approximately 1.2 miles, beginning at the Texas State Capitol and finishing at the Congress Bridge. At the end of the parade route, buses will pick up participants at the old Statesman parking lot located at 305 S. Congress Ave. to return to the shuttle sites. Anticipated arrival time is 10 p.m.
What to Wear/Bring:
- Water, clothing suitable for summer heat, and comfortable walking shoes.
- Pride costumes and rainbow colors are encouraged.
- AISD Pride T-shirts provided to participants upon arrival. (Limited quantity, first come.)
- If you have a Pride T-shirt from last year, please wear that shirt, as supplies are limited.
