There are so many myths about the dying process—and not enough honest conversations. We’re here to change that.

Hospice Austin believes everyone deserves comfort, dignity, and compassionate care at end-of-life.

Hospice Austin's Christopher House brings a special comfort to families, and we want to share the story behind these thoughtful, handmade quilts that were donated to us to keep in the rooms.

"My husband and I want to give back to Hospice Austin for the compassionate care and love given to our family during our loved one's final days. We brought him in and covered him with one of his favorite quilts. The simple pleasure of covering him in a handmade quilt brought us warmth and sparked happy memories. We want to share that with other families, so we are donating quilts we made."

We are so grateful for the incredible care and compassion shown by our community.
A heartfelt thank you to our Hospice Austin Notable Donors who joined us for this year’s Thank You Reception—we loved having the opportunity to celebrate and connect with you.

A special moment of the evening was hearing Katrina, one of our Chaplains, share a meaningful message that reminded us all of the impact of generosity.

We couldn’t do this important work without you—thank you for being part of our mission.

Hospice Austin's Christopher House is a special place like no other, and it fills our hearts with love when we receive notes like this one.

“My deepest appreciation and heart-filled thanks for your love, care and support of our entire family during my mother’s stay with you. From the minute I entered your door, I felt at peace. You took loving and gentle care of my mother during her dying time, and you offered me and my family a place of safety, peace, and holiness. You are all truly angels on earth.”

Mothers are truly special, and this Mother’s Day, we invite you to share a story about what your mother means to you.

Today, we’re honored to share a heartfelt story from one of our team members about his mom—a woman whose compassion and dedication defined what it means to care for others:

“When I think of nurses and a story of care that truly means something, I think of my mother. She was a CNA for 10 years before going back to school to become an LVN at the age of 50. She graduated top of her class, and our entire family was there celebrating—so proud of her.
She dedicated over 20 years to caring for patients in a nursing facility in my hometown. These weren’t just patients—they were neighbors, friends, and family we had known all our lives.
During COVID, she continued showing up every day to protect and care for her patients and our community. She gave her life protecting them.

Today, in my role at Hospice Austin & Austin Palliative Care, I feel closer to her than ever. In every interview I conduct, I ask myself, ‘Who would mom choose to care for her patients and our community?’”

For a few days each year, Teacher Appreciation Week and Nurses Week overlap, and we think that’s the perfect time to shine a light on a team that embodies both: the Hospice Austin & Austin Palliative Care Education Department.

Education is our love language. We believe you never stop learning, growing, and honing your craft—especially in the work we do.

Our education team plays a vital role in supporting that philosophy, leading continuing education opportunities and hands-on learning labs for staff across the organization. Their work ensures our teams are equipped with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to provide the highest level of care to the patients and families we serve.

This week, we’re proud to celebrate and thank the educators who invest in our people every day. 💙

💙 Our Nurses Week Appreciation Continues 💙
Every day, our nurses and team members step into spaces where compassion matters most. Here are just a few of the amazing faces behind the care we provide in our partner communities.

Did you know?
We provide hospice care to individuals living in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. In fact, we have a dedicated team that focuses exclusively on caring for patients in these settings—meeting them where they are and supporting them every step of the way.

Many people don’t realize that hospice care reaches far beyond private homes. We are honored to partner with these communities, providing compassionate care.

Happy Nurses Week! Did you know nurses led the hospice movement and played a key role in shaping modern palliative care—bringing dignity and comfort to patients at every stage of serious illness, especially at the end of life? Their vision reshaped how we care for people and families during life’s most meaningful moments.

Today, we honor not just what nurses do, but the legacy they’ve built—one rooted in empathy, advocacy, and human connection.
