Capital Improvement Priorities 2015 (CIPs):
West Oak Hill CIP
1. Support trail connectivity to achieve wildlife preservation goals, water quality goals, and to connect to major destinations.
2. Acquire environmentally sensitive land in Oak Hill for preservation as open space, wildlife areas, trails, or parkland
3. Identify potential parkland including pocket parks in far West Oak Hill to serve local residents
4. Widen FM 1826 to a 4 lane divided highway with sidewalks and bicycle lanes,
5. Provide safe, continuous sidewalks and bike lanes separated from traffic along US 290
East Oak Hill CIP
1. Acquire environmentally sensitive land in Oak Hill for preservation as open space, wildlife areas, trails, or parkland
2. Support trail connectivity to achieve wildlife preservation goals, water quality goals, and to connect to major destinations.
3. Provide safe crosswalks, overpasses, and underpasses across highways and major roadways in East Oak Hill, including US 290, William Cannon, Southwest Pkwy, and MoPac
4. Provide safe, continuous sidewalks and bike lanes separated from traffic along US 290
5. Flood mitigation projects in Oak Hill
East and West Oak Hill combined non-CIP
1. Preserve existing trees & wildlife corridors & partner with independent tree preservation & conservation experts to preserve & enhance Oak Hill's trees & wildlife corridors
2. Provide/mandate sidewalks for all new residential developments. Do not permit fee in lieu or other methods to avoid constructing sidewalks
3. Increase coordination between police and Oak Hill residents in order to reduce property crime and increase security in oak Hill neighborhoods, trails, greenbelts, and parks
4. Provide street planting, vegetated medians, and landscaping during new construction and redevelopment
5. Forest fire prevention and awareness programs
