WWS Detroit is an inclusive community that offers educational gatherings that are focused on all aspects of the wine industry and accessible to everyone at all levels of wine experience.

Women for WineSense Detroit is heading back to school on Monday 21st September at Alchemi from 5-7PM.

Special guests Madeline Triffon, the first female Master Sommelier from the US and Giordana Sobel, DipWSET and our Events Director will guide us through an overview of wine certification programs including WSET, The Court of Master Sommeliers, GuildSomm and SWE, plus how to find financial assistance through scholarships.

We will finish the event with a blind wine tasting following the tasting rubrics for WSET and CMS.

Nothing like summertime and ISLAND WINE! Join us on beautiful Belle Isle for our next tasting event on July 27th. We’ll be diving in and exploring the wines of some of our favorite islands, from bubbles to fortified! All are welcome, see link in bio for tickets.

As we reach the end of pride month, we want to highlight and thank these LGBTQIA+ owned establishments for their contributions to the wine and beverage community as a whole. Creating safe, hospitable spaces is no small feat!
Now let’s continue to uplift and support these establishments for the other 11 months of the year!

Producer highlight! Tonight, meet Iza from , who will be leading our Michigan portion of the Place vs Place Riesling tasting.
Based in Charlevoix, Folklor focuses on growing cold hardy and hybrid grapes using a restored apple and pear orchard just a couple miles from the shores of Lake Michigan. “Vineyard first” is the philosophy on their 52 acres, and we’re so excited to showcase that in through their wine this evening!

Producer highlight! This month, we’re shining the spotlight on a few Michigan producers that will be featured at our Place vs. Place event on May 18th.
Established in 1997 on the Leelanau peninsula, is now growing over 100 varietals on 37 acres, showing the true variety of possibilities in northern Michigan. We’ll be featuring their Semi-Dry Riesling at later this month!
