Since it’s Mental Health Awareness Month, it feels like the perfect time to get real about your emotional well-being. As military and veteran spouses, we’re usually the ones holding the map, the schedule, and… well, everything else. It’s way too easy to run yourself into the ground while you're busy taking care of everyone else.

The Self Love Mini Bracelet we made with Charliemadison Originals is just a tiny, wearable nudge to stop for a second. It’s there to remind you that you matter too. Not just the family or the mission. You.

Every single purchase helps the Veteran Spouse Network keep our community connected. You get to treat yourself while helping another spouse find their people. That's a total win-win.

Happy Military Spouse Appreciation Day! 🩵 To the military and veteran spouses who navigate constant change with courage, lead their families with strength, and sacrifice alongside their service members, we honor you today and every day.

We've been researching military and veteran spouse wellness to understand what you truly need to thrive. At Mission Wellness, hosted by the Federal Military Spouse & Family Collective, Dr. Elisa Borah and Hannah O'Brien presented findings from our Military & Veteran Spouse Wellness Survey, highlighting practical strategies to support your well-being.

Your wellness is our priority. At the Institute for Military & Veteran Family Wellness and the Veteran Spouse Network we're committed to translating research into real, evidence-based support to meet your evolving needs.

It's one thing to read about PTSD in a pamphlet, but it is another thing entirely to live with it in your home. Often, the focus is so heavy on the veteran’s recovery that the person standing right next to them gets overlooked.

You shouldn't have to explain why certain days are harder than others or justify why you feel exhausted. That is why we started Real Talk.

You can join us virtually for this free event on May 14th and May 26th from 7:00 PM to 8:30 PM CDT for this supportive, peer-led conversation.

You can secure your spot and find more details at https://na2.hubs.ly/H05kfcy0

The Veteran Spouse Network is dedicating our May focus to the often unseen reality of caregiving. For many, caregiving shows up as daily emotional support and the constant invisible work of keeping everything together.

Data from the Military and Veteran Spouse Wellbeing Survey (MVSWS) shows that over half of caregivers experience caregiver burden and other associated problems. They report higher rates of anxiety, depression, insomnia, and lower relationship satisfaction compared to non-caregivers.

The burnout many feel are not signs of personal failure; they are the reality of a demanding role. Acknowledging the weight of that role is the first step toward getting the support you actually need. You don't have to carry this alone.

This month, join our special caregiving event on May 27th — My Journey: Caregiving, a community discussion where veteran spouse caregivers share their experiences.

Getting a VA disability claim approved is a major win for a veteran and their family. Success often comes down to having the right medical documentation to show how military service impacted long-term health. The Veteran Spouse Network is proud to partner with Xterra Health: Nexus Letters and DBQs for Disabled Veterans to help our community find the clarity they need for this process.

Xterra Health is a veteran owned and operated team that provides expert medical opinions for disability claims. They use their nationwide network to offer thorough independent medical evaluations and build strong evidence based cases that help veterans take control of their own health and claims.

We value this partnership because the Xterra Health team brings compassion and expertise to the claims process so that families can move forward with more certainty.

We’re proud to partner with PMI U.S. to deliver more of the programs that matter to our neighbors. Their support allows us to expand our peer support programs for military and veteran spouses so they can navigate the challenges of active-duty life, the transition from military to civilian life, and put down roots post-military transition.

We’re grateful for this partnership—and for everyone who stands with us to make a difference every day.

Our Institute for Military & Veteran Family Wellness conducts research to help inform VSN's programming. New data from the Military & Veteran Spouse Wellness Survey shows how caregivers and parents face different well-being challenges.

Caregivers are feeling a lot of pressure right now. More than 27% of caregivers say they are just getting by in life. Also, nearly 47% find that sleep problems get in the way of their daily activities.

Parents often have increased relationship strain. Over 51% of parents surveyed feel they have needs that are not being met in their relationships. Also, parents of young children have much lower levels of social support.

The Veteran Spouse Network turns these facts into real programs that help with your specific life. These findings help us bridge the gaps in our community and provide the connection you deserve.

Does this match your experience? Let us know in the comments and we can help connect you to a program/event of ours that might help!
