Our team was onsite at Antone's this month planning exciting activities for the year ahead. Through our Arts, Music, and Culture initiatives we protect the venues, studios, and creative spaces that form the backbone of Austin’s cultural identity. We helped secure Antone’s home on East 5th Street for decades to come and ensures the blues remain a living part of the city’s music story.

📣 A pivotal moment for East Austin.

Austin City Council has approved the Place Based Enhancement Agreement for Blocks 16 and 18 on East 11th Street, marking a long-awaited step forward for the African American Cultural Heritage District after decades of community advocacy. We are deeply grateful to Austin City Council and City of Austin staff, along with community leaders and partners, for their leadership and collaboration in helping move this project forward.

This approval allows the project to access lower-cost bond financing, helping advance a development rooted in affordability, local business opportunity, and cultural preservation. The East 11th redevelopment will deliver cultural arts space, affordable condominiums, live/work townhomes, culturally focused public art, and neighborhood-serving commercial space, all while honoring the legacy of this historic corridor. 🌇

Through our three core areas of Arts, Music and Culture, Complete Communities, and Catalytic Development, we support projects that strengthen affordability, cultural vitality, and opportunity across our city. By supporting job creation, cultural preservation, and neighborhood vitality, our work is projected to generate between 320 million and 400 million dollars in collective economic impact for Austin!

In this video, Austin leaders share how this approach comes to life across projects and partnerships throughout the city. Learn more about our work and approach here: https://www.rallyforaustin.com/2025/05/28/our-approach-what-is-an-economic-development-corporation/
