Egypt coach Hossam Hassan has dedicated his team’s World Cup knockout win over Australia to the people of Palestine, who joined the rest of the Arab world in celebrating the historic victory through the night.

Egypt held their nerve to beat Australia 4-2 on penalties and secure their first World Cup knockout victory following a 1-1 draw after extra time in a cagey round of 32 match at Dallas Stadium on Friday.

Speaking to reporters after the match, Hassan said: “May God grant them [the Palestinians] victory, may God have mercy on their martyrs.

“I’m saying to them: I’m dedicating this victory to the Egyptian people and Palestinian people, those kind and honourable people.”

Hassan carried both the Egyptian and Palestinian flags onto the pitch following the victory, which was the country’s first win in its first-ever World Cup knockout game, as the team collectively bent down on the ground in prostration.

British neurologist Reihana Ali has drawn attention online after making strong remarks about Israel's conduct during the war in Gaza. In a widely shared interview, Ali alleged that Israeli forces had used tactics including b***y trapped aid, explosive devices disguised as toys, and drones broadcasting the sounds of crying babies to lure civilians. She described Israeli society as "the most psychopathic" she had encountered.

Several of the specific allegations cited in the interview have been reported or debated in different contexts, while others remain disputed or unverified. Israeli authorities have consistently rejected allegations that they deliberately target civilians or employ unlawful tactics during military operations in Gaza.

Chris Sidoti, a member of the United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry on the Occupied Palestinian Territory, has said that individuals who served with Israeli forces in Gaza since October 2023 should be investigated for possible war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.

Speaking about the Commission's findings, Sidoti said those who participated in Israel's military operations should be regarded as potential suspects pending criminal investigations, arguing that accountability should extend to all levels of involvement.

He also called on countries whose citizens served in the Israeli military to examine whether returning personnel should be investigated under the principle of universal jurisdiction, where applicable.

The Commission, established by the UN Human Rights Council, has accused Israel of committing serious violations of international law during its military campaign in Gaza. Israel has rejected the Commission's findings, accusing the body of bias and maintaining that its military operations are conducted in self-defence following the Hamas-led attacks of October 7, 2023.

Sidoti's remarks come amid growing international debate over accountability for alleged violations of international humanitarian law as the war in Gaza continues.

Israel Reportedly Disguises Makes Bombs Out Of Toys In South Lebanon

According to reports, footballs and other toys were found to have been b***y-trapped with explosive cluster munitions. This has raised fears of children accidentally finding such bombs.
