Leadership doesn’t belong to one generation. It grows when communities come together to serve, mentor, and build alongside one another.

Through programs like the Austin Area Urban League Guild and Young Professionals, AAUL creates space for emerging leaders and established changemakers to connect through service, fellowship, advocacy, and community impact.

From seasoned professionals sharing knowledge and experience to young leaders bringing fresh energy and new ideas, intergenerational leadership helps strengthen the future of Austin.

Because lasting change happens when wisdom, passion, and purpose work together.

On April 21, AAUL was part of Rural Reckoning: The Unseen Threads of Change and Action, a gathering rooted in collaboration, trust, and community voice.

Leaders, partners, and residents from across rural South Central Texas came together with a shared purpose. To strengthen relationships and center the people closest to the work.

Through storytelling, reflection, and Ripple Effect Mapping, something powerful surfaced:
- Real connections
- Shared progress
- Community-driven impact

This is what it looks like when resources and decision-making shift into the hands of the people most affected.

It is also the foundation of Saving Our Sovereignty.

Because lasting change is not built alone. It is built through collective action, shared learning, and a commitment to showing up for one another.

Don’t forget, June 13 is coming up. ✊🏾

Juneteenth is a time to gather, to remember, and to celebrate the strength and freedom that brought us here.

And at the Austin Area Urban League, we’re creating a space for our community to do that together.

This is your reminder to secure your spot and save the date.

Because spaces like this don’t just happen, they’re built with intention, care, and community.

When we show up, we keep our history alive.

When we come together, we protect what matters.

Hey Fam, how are you really doing?

Not the automatic “I’m fine.”

Not the polished answer.

The real answer.

Sometimes the people carrying the most are the ones nobody checks on.

The strong friend. The caregiver. The one always showing up for everyone else.

This is your reminder to check in on the people you love—and on yourself, too.

At the Austin Area Urban League, we believe wellness starts with community, connection, and access to culturally competent care and support.

Memorial Day is a time for reflection, gratitude, and community.

It reminds us that service takes many forms—from those who made the ultimate sacrifice to those who continue showing up every day to strengthen and support our communities.

At AAUL, we remain committed to that spirit of service through programs that expand access to education, workforce opportunities, housing support, health resources, and advocacy across Austin.

Today, we remember.

And we recommit ourselves to building stronger communities together.

Happy Memorial Day!

From crisis to stability.

Every day, the Austin Area Urban League works alongside individuals and families across Austin who are navigating real challenges—from housing instability and barriers to employment to access to health resources and education.

Through community-centered programs and support services, AAUL helps create pathways toward stability, opportunity, and long-term success.

But this work does not happen alone.

Your donation helps support programs that strengthen families, empower individuals, and invest in a stronger future for our community.

Saving Our Sovereignty is not just about learning. It is about taking action.

At every SOS gathering, participants leave with clear, immediate ways to get involved:

• Sign a community petition to oppose harmful redistricting
• Become a volunteer voter registrar
• Share critical information within their networks
• Help identify who is missing from the conversation and bring them in

SOS also builds something bigger.

A growing Solidarity Network that connects people, resources, and strategy to protect communities and strengthen civic power across Texas.

This is how change happens. Not in isolation, but together.

One conversation. One commitment. One community at a time.
