Five weeks from tonight, we'll be gathered for the 49th Annual Equal Opportunity Day Gala.

This year's theme, An Evening in the Garden, is a reminder: meaningful change has to be planted, nurtured, and protected. That's what AAUL's five pillars do every day — preparing students to lead, helping jobseekers find stability, connecting families to housing, and making sure community voice is heard.

Seats are limited, and tables are filling.

OKAYYY… WE DID THAT. 👀🍻

Democracy on Tap was a whole experience.

Good conversations. Good people. Good sips.
Good stixs. And plenty of civic energy. 🗳️

We came together to talk voting rights, redistricting, and civic participation — then kept the night going with music, networking, drinks, ci**rs, and community.

This is what happens when we make room for both the conversation AND the culture.

A special thank you to our speaker, Carlos G. Garth Sr., for helping lead the conversation and create space for meaningful civic dialogue.

And a huge thank you to our partners, League of Women Voters and Texas Civil Rights Project, for being on the ground with us and helping our community register to vote and get vote-ready. To everyone who pulled up, participated, connected, registered, and brought the energy — thank you for making Democracy on Tap what it was.

Scroll through the night with us. 📸✨

When community voice is organized, it becomes power.

In 2025, 108 advocates helped generate 1,579 messages to policymakers through AAUL's Speak4 campaign — part of a broader year that included 9 advocacy activations and mobilized 300+ community members and 30+ volunteers across Austin.

The Equal Opportunity Day Gala helps sustain work that protects voice, strengthens civic engagement, and builds power that outlasts a single moment.

Community power grows when trusted voices show up.

This week, we are spotlighting Auntie's House for their work helping residents stay informed, connected, and prepared.

Democracy Day is about building relationships that last beyond one event. Thank you to the people and partners helping our community move from awareness to action.
