Our Hill Country Chapter team recently completed a Thunderbolt exercise, putting their disaster response skills to the test. At 9:09 a.m., they received a message from Interim Executive Director Dr. Daniel P. Martinez about a mock disaster scenario that required opening three shelters. 💪

Teams of volunteers and staff quickly sprang into action, setting up each location with 200 blankets and 100 cots, posting signage, and conducting a full exercise—including checking in mock shelter clients and their pets.

Exercises like this help ensure we’re ready to respond when real disasters strike. Thank you to everyone who participated and helped keep our communities prepared!⛑️

Our Volunteer Recruiter Megan recently spent time at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, connecting with service members and their families during a community resource fair. ❤️

She shared how to get involved with the Red Cross, provided preparedness resources, and highlighted the many ways our community can step up and make a difference.

At our recent blood drive, our Bush Board Fellow John rolled up his sleeve for the very first time, helping ensure patients in need have access to critical blood supplies. As part of the Bush Board Fellows Program, John serves as a non-voting board member for our Heart of Texas Chapter, already making a meaningful impact on our mission.

"I've never given blood before, but I know how important it is in saving people's lives. Giving back is the most important thing."
