You're right, which is all the more reason this post is so important.

Every. Single. Day.
We're losing people in the animal-related world more and more every day.

Veterinary professionals face a su***de risk that is significantly higher than that of the general public, with rates ranging from 1.6 to 3.5 times higher for veterinarians and up to 5 times higher for male veterinary technicians.

I've seen several posts just this past 10 days of people gone too soon. One being a vet that graduated not more than four months ago. 💔

Please remember the people you deal with at the vet office everyday are human. They have feelings. They make mistakes.

Whether you're in an animal-related field, or just someone struggling...

THAT'S CRAZY!!!!

I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to be a part of such a wonderful community. The amount on those gift cards will help provide food, supplies, and enrichment for many of our pups. Because of y'all. 🥹

While we were there, I grabbed some small dog goodies for Lilah to take home to her foster's on Saturday(cause apparently she's not getting much bigger😭). We also tried on some costumes, but she told me I would find p**p on my pillow if I posted those pictures. 🤭

I also completely forgot I was wearing my sunglasses until they sent me the photo they took. Oops. 😅 At least Lilah made the picture decent!

Don't forget that they also collect donations for us on even months! They were kind enough to let us share a bin with another local rescue! (February, April, June, August, October, December)

Daphne(now Sugar) went to board and train at Fully Loaded K9 Academy today!

Yes, yes, she is adopted.
BUT, it was how I sealed the deal. 🤣

Frankly, this girl has been home since she went to this foster in December. I knew it, her foster knew it(but was in denial). Other people knew it.

Her foster has repeatedly voiced concerns about not being sure that they were good enough for Daphne. Which, obviously shows me how much they care. 🥹 Daphne also has had some standing issues when it came to manners.

Any socks are unsafe.
Toys belonging to the kiddo in the house.
When grandma comes over she's a bit too excited.
She just...is an opportunistic girlie.
🤣

Her mama has a sweet girl that has high-needs disabilities, and understandably, that makes taking a big girl like Daphne out and about for walks or adventures WITH human sibling a daunting task. And I wasn't going to just hand her over and say good luck.

That's not me.
That's not what this rescue is about.
I want to find the very best homes, and set these dogs up for success.

(Cause as much as I love them, I do NOT want them to come back. 😅)

I am SO very thankful to Keith and his team at Fully Loaded for allowing us to have a spot for board and train. This gives each chosen dog some structure, manners, and a better chance at forever. While I try to make sure our dogs leave rescue with manners and some training, I am not an expert. Which is where Keith and his team come in!

I am CRAZY EXCITED to see how well Daphne does with her board and train each week. And hopefully by the end of it she feels more confidence and can make some doggy friends. 🤞🏼

Clover completed heartworm treatment today. ☘️

Poor guy is NOT feeling hot. 😞

He refused dinner, and has just been asleep(HARD) on the couch since we got home this afternoon. I've had to check that he's actually breathing a few times, cause he hadn't moved.

PLEASE please put your pet on heartworm prevention. 😭 It takes ONE mosquito bite to get infected.
ONE.

"They only go out to potty and come right in."
"They're inside dogs."

Cool, unless you never ever open any door or window EVER, and live like a hermit, your pet is still at risk.

ONE. MOSQUITO.

THAT'S IT. THAT'S ALL IT TAKES.

And you don't even know they've got it until their organs start to become damaged. And the treatment injections? They are SO ROUGH on them. Dogs can DIE from the treatment being too hard for their already damaged organs. 💔

Clover feels bad, but I'm sure he'll feel better tomorrow.

Other animals won't be so lucky. 😞

It's time for the reveal!

Meet Lilah. 🥹

She was found wandering in Redfield, Arkansas. The person that saved her said she had been out eating trash on the road for over a month. 😭 She was horribly skinny, she was INFESTED with fleas.

The original finder couldn't continue to care for her, but didn't want to leave her in the streets. One of our amazing supporters stepped up for her, but knew she couldn't provide her with all the expensive things needed to help a dog off the streets.

And while I don't really have room or funds to say yes, I did anyway. 🥲

Honestly, not sure what this dog is. She looks like a mini Golden Retriever, but has NO tail like a corgi, but has alarmingly long legs like a deer. 🤣😭 Maybe a mini aussie mix? I don't even know. Lol.

The vet says she's anywhere from 7ish months to MAYBE 2 years(and that's pushing it). Her teeth are pearly white, but have build-up on them. Maybe from eating the trash?

She is SO SWEET. She's ELEVEN FREAKING POUNDS. 😭🤣

I'm honestly just at a loss for words with this one guys. Anyone want to donate a DNA test? Cause I'm dying to know what she is. 🤣

She went to the vet this morning for shots, a heartworm test and prevention, a f***l test, flea and tick prevention for her tiny itchy hitchhikers, and got scheduled to be spayed. Her heartworm test was below detectable limits(negative), but she'll need retested in 6 months to be sure she's still negative.

For now, she's safe, she's a VERY happy girl, and soon she'll be available for adoption. 🥰

The last few weeks have been...
interesting.

I don't do cats, I'm hoping that everyone knows that by now. 😭🤣

Allergies, sheer lack of cat knowledge, litterboxes...just...not my thing. Lol. But, I couldn't leave them to suffer the fate of the others that were on the property. And there's no way I was asking our friends at Community Cats of Central Arkansas to make an exception and take more on when they're already drowning in kitties. Seriously, she has like, a billion cats. If you're a cat person, please go give them some love. 🫶🏽

So, I adjusted, as I always do when things get crazy. And they got crazier. 🤪

The tiny female kitten, who I decided to name Madame Sprinkles(don't judge me, it was a spur of the moment thing when the vet asked for their names 😭🤣), seems to be a case of failure to thrive...or just a very very small runt. She's remained about the same size, has had extreme difficulties with bowel movements(causing us to both be unhappy with the enemas prescribed every 2 hours🥴), and uhh...

She can fit between the bars of a dog kennel.
So she was uncontainable. 😭🤣
I'd walk in to her peacefully sleeping on a blanket one of my children left on the floor of the room, and Lord Cupcake hanging from(and parkour-ing off of) the very TOP of the kennel meant to contain them. 😅 I swear he was doing pull-ups like he was in prison or something. 💀

It was obvious that MS was going to be at risk. All it would take is one kiddo not paying attention for her to slip past and wander until a much larger four-legged being decided on a snack. 😬

Soooo, I got MS a kitty palace. 😺

It took her a little bit to get the hang of the ladders, and her heating pad is in the wash, but I think she likes it. LC isn't invited, because he likes to try and put her in kitty-headlocks when he gets feisty. 😐

I also am much less stressed without her escapes. 🙃 And this gives her a front row seat to the chaos she desperately enjoys escaping to see, while also being safe and easily accessible for her multiple baths and enemas.

So. This is the kitty update. I'm alive.
Still itchy. Still struggling to breathe.
Buuuuut I guess she's kinda cute. 😅

This is still only a one time thing. Once they find homes we are back to dogs only. I am not sorry.
I am 1000% a dog person. 🤣🤣

However, even kitties need vaccines and spay/neuter. Sooo, if I could kindly ask you to skip your morning coffee and send a couple dollars to them, it would mean the world. 🥺
