This is what hospital vision looks like in Texas: Wielding scissors and a desire to serve more patients amid tremendous growth, local leaders symbolically โsnippedโ barriers to access to care for thousands of families across Seguin and Guadalupe County.
It took strong advocacy, persistence and healthy state partnerships to get here.
What began as an idea planted by Guadalupe Regional Medical Foundation CEO Elaine Bennett grew into a transformational investment in patients and the community. A new 27,000-square-foot facility in Seguin, set to formally open June 1, expands access to primary care, imaging and laboratory services for the community. At a packed community reception, healthcare trailblazers and local leaders formally commemorated the launch of the new Laurel Medical Office Building, part of Guadalupe Regional Medical Center.
This expansion took:
โ๏ธ Relentless advocacy
โ๏ธ Bipartisan collaboration
โ๏ธ Leaders willing to champion healthcare
GRMC, the only city-county-owned hospital in Texas, successfully advocated for $10 million in the state budget approved during the 88th Legislature.
The new facility was made possible by a slew of leaders and experts who were on hand for the ceremony, including Judith Zaffirini, Texas State Senator, former Rep. John Kuempel, hospital CEO Robert Haynes, local elected officials, community leaders and countless partners who believed in the vision.
