Hello Everyone! It’s time for me to provide y’all with an update on USDGC in Rhinelander, Wisconsin! July 10-14.

First before I provide updates, I want to congratulate the Southwest Deaf Golfers Association, Far West Golfers Association of the Deaf and the Southeast Deaf Golfers Association for completing successful tourneys, all in June! 3 straight weeks!

July will only offer USDGC in Wisconsin. Then in early August, Midwest Deaf Golfers Association will host theirs.

Allow me to recognize our 4 Major Sponsors

Steve Hlibok, Merrill Lynch

Northwood Golf Club

Green Bay Packers Foundation

Southeast Deaf Senior Citizens Inc.

Plus, I am very inspired, humbled, and overwhelmed with the pouring support of the Wisconsin Deaf Community. 4 Deaf Clubs made contributions along with many other deaf organizations. Here they are.

(See Graphic Logos of each)

Is this all? No, we have a plethora of contributors of which I will hold off for the Program Book and Posters, Banners etc. will be set up at the event itself.

Now let me talk about the tourney itself with a few updates not mentioned on our website nor or prior announcements. We have some exiting updates.

First, we are thrilled to have Kevin Hall, an accomplished golfer of his own regard joining us that week. He will also provide a demonstration at the same place where we will have our Thursday evening cookout. Will also be available for a Q & A session. Free for everyone. 4pm before the cookout on Thursday evening. Thanks Kevin! Also, I am intrigued with his sponsored product, a high-end PH Alkaline water that will be donated for a part of the week. I look forward to tasting it!

Do remember that we have 3 tourneys into one. First 4 days will be the qualifying fo those competing for spots to be on the USA Team for 2024 Australia, the other will be Recreational, just fun regardless of your skills. And the Wisconsin Deaf Golfers Association’s annual one day tourney. Again this is recreational. It is not too late for you to sign up with us!

Another exciting news is that we are adding a new event, notice the background? Yes, we will have a French Themed 5 course dinner on Tuesday evening. We wanted to take the offer from Northwood Golf Club’s very enthusiastic staff as they are thrilled to be hosting us. So, we came up with this event “at the last minute”. With 2 different price packages, one with wine pairings and one without. Just let me or Roger know if you are interested and we will put you on our RSVP list. This dinner is open to anyone.

Do you know our Unofficial State Bird?

Mosquito graphic

Yep, mosquitoes! To be honest, in my 20 years of attending the Northwoods, they are not a nuisance except for nightfall and if you hook your ball into the deep woods, then you might face them. But for the most part, they are not a nuisance. But then again, it would vary on individuals as some attract more than others. I strongly recommend you bring your own repellent that works for you. We will offer some but it might not be for everyone.

Double Thumbs up!
