Hoopus: Werewolf HoopCraft has been an ambiguous dream in my mind for almost as long as I’ve been sick. I wished there was a way to tell other girls like me not only that we were going to be ok, but that we could stand up together and fight. Hoopus allows me to empower other women just like me to take what they feel and choose to step into it or away from it, however they choose to channel their f
low. In regaining that control of their emotions and their bodies they begin to realize that the lessons that they learn about themselves and their bodies inside the hoop translate to how they can allow themselves to approach their lives. If they just push a little further, sometimes it will hurt but it will pay off. The best part of my day is being able to talk to each of the wonderful people that this project has brought together day after day. I am able to give us all a safe home to speak out on our truths, compassionately understand one another’s plight, and most importantly, laugh. As people who spend a large part of our lives feeling alone, in pain, and utterly different than even the people we love, that is the best thing that we get to share.
