Here at the Beta Gamma chapter of the University of Texas at Austin, we provide service to the Longhorn Band such as carrying and handing out water at football games, and taking medkits to all band events. During band week, before the band is set, we provide lunches for all returning and prospective members. This year, we participated with Special Olympics bowling, Ronald McDonald, Girl Scouts, th
e Austin Marathon, and we adopted a local underprivileged high school band (in which we played with them at their football games, and provided private lessons to their students). Our philanthropy is with Make-A-Wish Foundation, in which we helped a 3-year-old girl named Calleigh with Leukemia get the chance to go to Disney World. We also were fortunate enough to be able to donate to our adopted school to support their band program.
