Big news for Central Texas girls! 🎉

Girl Scouts of Central Texas is proud to be one of 14 nonprofit organizations selected to receive funding through Samsung Austin Semiconductor’s new Spark! program. Through this initiative, GSCTX has been awarded a $250,000 multi-year grant to expand STEM opportunities for girls in the Taylor and Manor communities. 💚👏

With this investment, more girls will have opportunities to discover new passions, strengthen their confidence, and envision exciting possibilities for their futures.

Meet Texas Explorers from Troop 22459! These girls spent the weekend at Fort Parker State Park for a camping and clean-up service event. ♻️💚 From trails to rivers, they helped keep our state park beautiful and trash-free. Their work also earned them the Caring for My Community patch. ✅

After years of volunteering at her local mosque, Girl Scout Eshal noticed how many single-use plastic water bottles were being used. So she launched the Go Green Initiative Committee and teamed up with mosques across Austin to raise awareness.

Because of her leadership:
🌟 Her mosque no longer serves single-use plastic water bottles, saving a projected 324,000+ bottles over the next five years
🌱 Vendors and events now use biodegradable containers
💯 Nearly 100% of survey respondents plan to bring a reusable bottle

Eshal also developed a step-by-step guide that helps any organization transition to a plastic water bottle free environment. It has already reached other Austin-area mosques and the Islamic Society of North America.

For their , Girl Scout sisters Haven and Aria created a "blind date with a book" cart for their middle school library. The duo planned, designed, built, and hand-painted the bookshelf, picking up new woodworking skills along the way. Then they hand-selected and wrapped mystery books, wrote a summary for each one, and made Pages of Possibility flyers to get their peers excited. With students short on library time, the mystery makes picking a book quick and fun, and it shows kids that reading by choice can be a joy. 📚💚
