As we wrap up Battle of the Branches and Military Appreciation Month, we want to take a moment to recognize and thank the brave men and women who serve, and have served, our country.

Throughout May, we’ve celebrated the strength, resilience, teamwork, and dedication that define our military community. From friendly competition during Battle of the Branches to honoring Memorial Day, this month has been a meaningful reminder of the sacrifices made to protect our freedoms.

At PCSI, we are proud to support meaningful employment opportunities for people with disabilities, including veterans and military-connected individuals who continue to make an impact in our workforce every day.

A huge congratulations to Bella Miracle Smith, PCSI's Benefit Counselor, for representing our organization during SourceAmerica’s April 28 webinar on placement program resources. By guiding attendees through opportunities for no‑cost benefits counseling and showcasing how NPAs are improving the working experience of AbilityOne employees, they demonstrated both expertise and heart. Honoring the brave. Remembering the fallen.

This Memorial Day, our PCSI JBLM 690 team and families joined the wear blue: run to remember 5K in Dupont, WA to pay tribute to the heroes who gave everything for our freedom.

From the Chinook helicopter landing to the moment runners shared the names of those they were honoring, the event was a powerful reminder that freedom is never free.

We are proud to support wear blue: run to remember and their mission to ensure our fallen service members are never forgotten.

This month, our PCSI team at JBLM Site 690 proudly supported wear blue: run to remember during their Social Saturday practice run for the Gold Star Youth Program.

We joined the powerful Circle of Remembrance and shared who PCSI is, the work we do, and our honor in being a major sponsor of the upcoming Memorial Day Run.

Grateful to stand with this community, remember the fallen, and support the families who carry their legacy forward.

Anthony Scales joined PCSI seven years ago and excelled in several positions, including housekeeper and quality control manager, before stepping into his most recent career opportunity. He currently works as an executive housekeeper at Naval Medical Center in Portsmouth, Virginia on an Program contract. Before joining PCSI, Anthony served for twenty-one years in the U.S. Army. He completed five deployments, including two tours of duty in Afghanistan. Prior to retiring from service, he received a Traumatic Brain Injury diagnosis and severe hearing loss in one ear. He regularly experiences headaches, anxiety and memory lapses.

As a veteran with a disability, he believes that communication, patience and empathy are imperative to building strong relationships with colleagues. On Tuesday, May 5th, PCSI was proud to partner with 4ATX Foundation and the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired (TSBVI) to help bring the first blind soccer pitch in Texas to life.

The grand opening celebration included a ribbon cutting ceremony and soccer clinic led by U.S. Blind Soccer National Team member and TSBVI alumni Ricky Castenada, creating an inspiring day focused on accessibility and opportunity through sports.

We were also honored to have Gary Anderson, PCSI’s Senior Vice President of Business Development, speak at the event alongside community leaders and partners dedicated to expanding access for athletes who are blind or have low vision.

“At PCSI, we break barriers for individuals with disabilities, primarily barriers that exist in the workplace,” said Tony Cucolo, President and CEO of PCSI. “Every day I see my team doing things no one believed they could do and living their best lives. Sports can have the same impact, lifting individuals up to do things they and others thought were not possible. That is why we’re proud to partner with 4ATX Foundation, Austin FC, Soccer Assist, and Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired to help create this space where athletes who are blind or have low vision can belong, compete, and be their best.”

General Maintenance Worker Jolene Britt was recently recognized by the Installation Reception Center, Trailblazer Battalion at Joint Base Lewis-McChord with a Certificate of Appreciation and commemorative coin; an honor signed by unit leadership.

Her professionalism, compassion, and dedication to the mission truly stand out. Jolene’s work reflects the strong partnerships we’re proud to build with our Army partners every day.
