Have you heard about our community class program?

Community classes are quick, around three hour projects that are designed to be people’s first experience in the wood shop. The classes are designed and taught by volunteers. We have a few seats left in the upcoming Owl Box class.

Come learn more about class offerings and explore student work Saturday, September 19th from 4:00-6:00pm. We’ll have staff available to give tours and answer any questions that you might have. Bring a friend or make a new one, drinks and snacks will be provided.

This project is supported in part by an Elevate Grant of Austin Arts, Culture, Music and Entertainment.

We still have a few seats left in Andrew Hunter upcoming Kanawa Scarf Joint class. Learn how to demystify Japanese joinery and hand cut this traditional scarf joint. If you can’t make it for class, Monday 9/28 we’ll be hosting an open house and lecture that is free to attend. Andrew will discuss the history and future of Japanese woodworking, as well as show a presentation of his own experience and work.

The event is free to attend, mark your calendars and come learn from one of the experts! Drinks and snacks will be provided.

It’s almost that time of year 🤠🤠 Let’s start Texas Woodworking Festival off with a bang at the Austin School of Furniture. Come grab a b**r, meet other makers, and get into the woodworking spirit. Event is free to attend, drinks and snacks provided. Don’t miss out.

Last week we hosted James Wright for a five day hand tool build. We took inspiration from the shakers and made something a little more flashy. Students worked with pre milled materials and didn’t turn on a single machine all week (mostly). Mistakes were made, new tools were tried, and we all took some time to slow down and appreciate the process.
