Austin Humane Society We are Austin's oldest and longest-standing no-kill, non-profit animal adoption shelter dedicated to assisting Central Texas' most in-need cats and dogs.
(1223)

Serving our community since 1952, the Austin Humane Society (AHS) is the longest standing no-kill shelter in Austin. AHS transforms the lives of animals and the people who love them through life-saving programs that find animals homes, serve animals and people in times of crisis, prevent future homelessness through spay and neuter, and engage the community to be a part of the solution. Over the past year, AHS has unleashed hope for over 11,000 animals thanks to the generosity of our donors. Thank you to the sponsors making Mission Pawsible possible!
The 21st Annual Rags to Wags is this Saturday, and none of it happens without the generosity of our incredible sponsors. Because of them, we can say yes to more animals in need.
Our deepest thanks to our Presenting Sponsors, Drs. Stephanie Beardsley and Stephan Kerpsack, and to our Hero Sponsors, Gail Hughes in memory of Lee B. Walker, and Lisa and Tracy Kennedy.
To our Guardian Sponsor, VCA Animal Hospitals , our Champion Sponsors, Chris Forland, Maxwell Locke & Ritter , and Luv, Koda, our Best Friend Sponsors, and our Shelter Star Sponsors, thank you for believing in this mission. Swipe to see every sponsor.
We are also grateful to our Naming Opportunity Sponsors who bring the night to life: Tito's Handmade Vodka , Roger Beasley Mazda , H-E-B , Serendipity Fund, FVF Law , and Bodyartforms.
Thank you for helping us unleash hope. See you Saturday!

✨ Our Rags to Wags event is coming together more and more every day, and we’re excited to bring you an unforgettable, lifesaving event! 🐾

We’re thrilled to have some incredible talent joining us for the show! Help us give a warm welcome to our evening’s MC, 🎤 Trevor Scott, Heath Hale of 🤠 Cowboy Auctioneer, and our live music 🎶 performer, Aj Vallejo!

Trevor Scott is an Austin television personality and host of the CBS Austin morning program “We Are Austin.” You can catch him on TV every weekday morning, highlighting the people, stories, and organizations that make Central Texas such a special place to call home. He has a passion for storytelling and a career in television that spans more than 20 years, with experience in front of and behind the camera.

AJ Vallejo is an award-winning Austin artist/producer. He’s toured the world with his band of brothers, Vallejo, sharing the stage with Aerosmith, the Black Crowes, Matchbox 20, STP, and many more, and he launched his own hot sauce line in 2024. Visit ajvallejo.com for dates/store and more!

And last but not least is Heath Hale from Cowboy Auctioneer! From intimate galas to packed stadiums, Heath inspires generosity and helps organizations maximize their impact. A lifelong Texan, husband, and father of two daughters, he believes life is best lived with open hands and a bold vision. It’s shaping up to be an amazing event filled with fun, food, entertainment, and, most importantly, a mission that saves lives. We can’t wait to see you there! ✨

✨Cheers for our Rags to Wags special guest and Guardian Award recipient, Matt Nelson! ✨
Each year, AHS is honored to present the Lee B. Walker Guardian Award at our Rags to Wags Gala. This award is given annually to an individual, organization, or business that has gone above and beyond to positively impact the lives of animals. The award is named in memory of former AHS Board member Lee B. Walker, whose dedication and passion made a lasting impact on the lives of the people and animals of the Austin Humane Society.

This year, we are proud to honor Matt Nelson, creator of WeRateDogs and the 15/10, which he launched after adopting Doug, a senior German Shepherd whose medical needs made it unlikely he would ever leave the shelter. Named for the highest rating ever given on WeRateDogs, the 15/10 Foundation has sponsored 134 AHS dogs and pledged more than $260,000 toward their medical care since 2022. Because of Matt and his team of lifesavers, it is easier than ever for AHS to say yes when a dog in need comes through our doors. We’ll be honoring Matt Nelson this Saturday, and we can’t wait to see you all there! ✨

We are so thankful to share that over 60 pets have found homes in the last 3 days! Wow!!!!! 🤩 A majority of the Bastrop pups have been adopted with a few of the older pups still available. We’ve also been able to find homes for some of our longer stay dogs and quite a few cats, which makes us super happy 😁

Our lobby is busy with folks visiting, so please be patient as wait times might be longer than normal. Remember, to adopt, you must visit the shelter in person. You can fill out our adoption form online to save you time, but it won’t reserve an animal.

Thank you all for your support! You can also still donate on our website or the fundraiser on this post ♥️
