Thank you to Elizabeth Birdsong and Olivia Tompkins from the Edelman Gen Z Lab for an incredible Lunch & Learn Live yesterday.

Gen Z isn't one audience, and understanding the divide between Gen Z 1.0 and Gen Z 2.0 is one of the most useful frameworks a communicator can have right now. Yesterday's conversation made that concrete.

There isn’t one Gen Z. There are two. And they think very differently about brands.

Gen Z 1.0 (ages 23–29): trusting until proven wrong. Still believes brands and systems can be influenced. Gen Z 2.0 (ages 13–22): skeptical until proven credible. Expects brands to fall short before they’ve even tried.
