Rosamaria Murillo, One Voice's 2026 chair, was recently awarded a Lifetime Achievement by the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. Dr. Murillo is a powerful voice for the communities she serves, and we are grateful for the opportunity to work with her. Join One Voice Central Texas for a peer-led workshop designed to help those in leadership:

- Identify the root causes of turnover
- Explore strategies for improving employee engagement and morale
- Grow in their own leadership

Through peer discussions and hands-on planning exercises facilitated by peer colleagues Dan Leal and Suzanne Anderson, participants will leave with resources and practical ideas to strengthen their workplace culture and increase staff satisfaction.

"Without the public’s trust, everything nonprofits and philanthropies do to advance their missions becomes harder, if not impossible."

Nonprofit Austin at ACC shares a timely report on the necessity of nonprofits, especially during an era where uncertainty is the norm. Conducted by Independent Sector and Edelman Data & Intelligence, the report illustrates how Americans continue to put their trust in nonprofits, with 50% of survey respondents claiming that nonprofits mitigate division and promote unity.

Nonprofits play a vital role in community building, as organizations' commitment to fulfilling their missions fosters connection. Despite these trying times, this report provides a source of motivation for nonprofits to continue doing what they do best: remain a constant for their communities.

Congratulations to the One Voice Central Texas members who are finalists for the 2026 Greater Austin Business Awards!

We're delighted to learn that LifeWorks Austin (Dr. Liz Schoenfeld), Meals on Wheels Central Texas (Henry Van de Putte III), The Other Ones Foundation (Elizabeth Baker), and Trinity Center Austin (Christian Rodriguez) have been nominated and now sit as finalists in the "Nonprofit Impact" category. The Greater Austin Business Awards is Austin's largest business event of the year, and it's right around the corner!

This morning, One Voice Central Texas members had the privilege of meeting with Councilwoman Vanessa Fuentes for a celebratory Cafecito following the passage of the City budget.

We thank Councilwoman Fuentes and the District 2 Staff for their leadership and support, and for recognizing the mobilization of One Voice members and the collective advocacy that helped protect critical social services funding.

We celebrate this victory and we also we know there is still more work to be done. We look forward to continuing our partnership with City leaders to ensure Austin remains a community where all families can thrive and where investments in essential human services remain a priority.

Did you know? One Voice Central Texas provides many opportunities for connection and leadership development, including our peer mentorship initiative: The Buddy Program!

✨ The annual Buddy Program matches experienced nonprofit executives with emerging leaders to facilitate peer-to-peer mentorship. Buddies meet at least once per month over the span of six months, often over coffee or lunch. Many participants report that they stay in touch with their buddy and continue to connect as thought partners well after their time in the Buddy Program has ended.

✨ To date, we have matched 100 Buddies!

✨ We look forward to many more years of providing peer mentorship opportunities for nonprofit leaders in Central Texas.

This National Nonprofit Day, we honor advocacy and celebrate the incredible dedication of One Voice Central Texas members and partners who work tirelessly every day to strengthen our communities.

Over the past eight months our nonprofit leaders have invested countless hours meeting with elected officials, researching, testifying, and championing the essential services that improve the health and safety of our community.

Thanks to their dedication and collective voice, a proposed budget that began with $17M in social service cuts was transformed into a final adopted budget that retains the vast majority of this funding for the next year. This will prevent significant disruptions to services that thousands of community members rely on every day.

This outcome is a testament to the power of collaboration and the unwavering commitment to the people our members have the privilege of serving. We invite health and human service nonprofits to join One Voice Central Texas and experience firsthand the value of a strong network of informed and engaged nonprofit leaders.

Last night, Austin City Council adopted a $6.6 billion budget, including the restoration of most social service contract funding for another year.

The City Council's adoption of the budget represents an important step forward for Austin's social services system. For One Voice Central Texas, our focus now shifts from budget advocacy to implementation and oversight.

It has been a busy eight months staying abreast of draft budgets, presentations, amendments, meetings with Council Members, and providing testimony at hearings. We want to express our deepest appreciation to the OVCT Leadership, Members, and Strategic Advisors for their dedication and devotion to this advocacy. We thank the Austin City Council for supporting the restoration of social service funding, which is crucial to the health and safety of Central Texas communities.
