Remember where you came from and don't forget your roots!
On December 9th, 1969, Crystal City High School students Severita Lara, Diana Serna, and Mario TreviƱo led a historic walkout that gained national attention. The students inspired local Mexican-Americans to run for political office, and won a majority on the school board in 1970.

CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS (News Release) - Roland Barrera, At-Large Councilman, was elected as the President of the Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials (AHMO) on Thursday, October 30. He will serve a one-year term.

The Association of Hispanic Municipal Officials (AHMO) is a 34-year-old organization that provides its members with a platform to share information about trends affecting Hispanic city officials through various communication channels. AHMO is an affiliate group of the Texas Municipal League, serving to represent and promote the interests of the Hispanic community.

Before he was elected President of AHMO, he served for two years as its Vice President. His term as President is effective immediately.
