Honoring our Heroes: follow the Austin Veterans Parade for updates, events, and ways to celebrate “Veterans Helping Veterans and their Families.” Join us as we uplift veterans, engage our community, and preserve a tradition of service. In November 1919, President Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day with the following words:

"To us in America, the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory, both because of the thing from which it has freed us and because of the opportunity it has given America to show sympathy with peace and justice in the councils of the nations…"

We are proud to be recognized as a Regional Site for Veterans Day 2026.

In a September 21 letter to BOLD MVEN, Inc., dba Military Veterans Empowerment Network - MVEN, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Veterans Day National Committee confirmed the City of Austin Government as a regional site for this year’s celebration.

As organizers of the Austin Veterans Parade, MVEN is honored to bring our community together to recognize the service and sacrifice of our nation’s veterans.

This year also marks the 250th anniversary of American independence. In keeping with the committee’s invitation to incorporate “Freedom 250” themes, we celebrate the generations of veterans who have served our nation and defended its freedoms.

Join us Saturday, November 7, 2026:

• 9:00 AM: Austin Veterans Parade, traveling north from the Congress Avenue Bridge toward the Texas Capitol.
• 10:00 AM: Veterans Resource Event at the Capitol Great Walk.
• 11:00 AM: Veterans Day Ceremony at the Capitol South Steps.

We also invite middle and high school students to participate in our Essay Contest with the theme “Veterans Helping Veterans and their Families.”
